Late Term and Child Loss

PgAL check in 8/1

Good Morning ladies and happy Friday!

I hope everyone has been doing well this week!  Every week that passes is a wonderful milestone. Feel free to post any questions you may have

How far along are you?

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones?

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions?

QOTW: How did you tell your family and friends about this pregnancy?

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?

Re: PgAL check in 8/1

  • How far along are you? 9 weeks

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? Nope.  No OB appointment for another 3 weeks, but then after that I go weekly.  I need to make the major decision on whether or not to get a cerclage (it is unlikely I have IC, but it is a small possibility).

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? I find myself gravitating to whole grains and salmon, which is good because I can eat it without feeling sick.

QOTW: How did you tell your family and friends about this pregnancy? Haven't done it yet... I'm waiting until the time feels right, but when it happens I have a great way to surprise them!

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? Weirdly enough, I am worried about my right leg.  I think the swelling from PIO shots is bothering a nerve and my leg keeps falling asleep.  Only one more week of PIO!!!

  • Hi everyone! This is my first post on this check in and I'm very excited about it!

How far along are you? Just under 5 weeks

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? Not until late August, unless I start to get overly anxious. If that happens they said I could call and come in early.

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? Not yet, just hungry a lot. I had a lot of morning sickness (all day sickness) with Lincoln starting around week 8, so I'm a little nervous.

QOTW: How did you tell your family and friends about this pregnancy? Haven't told many people yet. Just my sister and one friend. Nothing special, just said "Guess what!"

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? Missing Lincoln a lot this week. I visited him yesterday and told him all the things he should be sure to be doing, that being an angel doesn't mean he doesn't have to keep eating his veggies (he'd be almost 11 months old now, so I think he should be trying lots of veggies). And that he has to be a good big brother and look out for his new sister or brother. That helped me a little, just talking to him and imagining him having fun and doing "normal" things.
  • Mel&John2013 Congratulations on your pregnancy!  I know you must feel nervous, but I do believe that your little Lincoln is watching over his little sibling.  I think it is so wonderful that you talk to him.  I do that with my boys all the time and I truly believe that they can hear us.  Best wishes for a  happy and healthy 9 months!
  • @Mel&John2013 and @lkrystal, congrats.

I haven't been good on checking in, so here is my updated status.

How far along are you? 19 weeks today.

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? Just had my a/s on Wed, everything looks great. This was the scan I was nervous about because this was when I found out Raynor's was measuring small and had issues. I can breath a bit now knowing this baby is healthy.

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? Acid reflux and more acid reflux. No cravings, just can't eat chicken.

QOTW: How did you tell your family and friends about this pregnancy? I surprised my mom and sister when I met them in FL at 17 weeks. So far, only immediate family knows I'm pregnant, I haven't told friends or extended family yet.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? Missing my baby boy, wishing he was here. I've been feeling this baby kick since week 17 and freak out when I don't feel her, so I always end up drinking soda to get her to kick. Poor baby, probably not getting any sleep because I'm always nervous.

  • @ikrystal, thank you! And congratulations to you!

Also, I'm jealous you're craving whole grains and salmon. My hunger goes more toward Chipotle...and not even with brown rice. Great work being healthy!

  • Can I join??!!!    :)

How far along are you?  Just shy of 5 weeks

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones?  Yes, my first ultrasound is this upcoming Monday which is also my birthday oddly enough!

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions?  Each day seems to get a little stronger but I've been having waves of nausea. Pretty tired starting around 3-4pm aaaaaand everything tastes funny. I love chocolate and a friend bought me some really fancy ones but blech

QOTW: How did you tell your family and friends about this pregnancy?  We're going to tell my MIL/FIL tomorrow. I thought of incorporating Skittles somehow as a rainbow reference but honestly I'm so exhausted I don't know if its going to happen. We'll probably just say, "hey ...FYI...." and then I'm going to wait until my bday when my parents call to tell them on the phone (they live out of state)

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week?  Just anxious for our u/s....a week is a long time between appts.!

@aragosta, glad to hear William is doing well. Does your work or YH work have EAP services? If they do, you usually get 5 counseling sessions for free. Hang in there, LO will be here in less than 3 months.

  • @aragosta, WTF is wrong with that counselor, is he/she also a psychic? That's absurd. I hope you're getting the support you need. We're always here to listen as well.

  • How far along are you? 23 weeks

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? I have an ultrasound appt with the MFM specialist today, and an appt with my midwife next Tuesday.

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? Fatigue stills comes and goes. That seems to be the main symptom these days.

QOTW: How did you tell your family and friends about this pregnancy? I told my mom the day got my BFP, at 12 dpo. I was in such shock and needed to tell someone. I told my husband that evening, and about a couple weeks later told my older cousin and father. We didn't go public until 8 weeks.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? Just hoping everything goes well at the ultrasound today. I had horrible anxiety during the first and early part of the second trimester. It seemed difficult to shake the fear, and I used my doppler here and there for temporary reassurance. But over the last month or so I have made more of an attempt to be optimistic and try not to stress out. In the back of my head, I worry and wonder, but then I realize that it's out of my hands, and to enjoy the moments I do have with her.

(I'm new to this board. I lost my first son, Duncan, back in November '08. He was due in December. He was going to be my second December baby, but he went into congestive heart failure due to his heart defects and we lost him. I had my rainbow, Henry, the following December, the day after Christmas. I am expecting another baby, my third girl, early December).

  • aragosta 87 days is not far away at all.  When you said you didn't want to wait to announce because you didn't want the fear to overcome you, that really spoke to me.  I think that is important to not let the fear in our pregnancies take away from the joy.  Praying and wishing you a healthy rest of the pregnancy!  Also, that counselor has me shaking my head...

aeonlux  Welcome to the board. I am so sorry for your loss. Whenever you are ready, feel free to post an intro so the ladies here can get to know you.  This board is a wonderful support.  I hope that your ultrasound went well today. Best wishes for a healthy and happy pregnancy!
  • I am terrible about filling this out on time, but better late than never, right?

How far along are you? 10 weeks today

Do you have any upcoming appointments or milestones? We have a regular appointment on Monday 8/11, and then the NT scan the next week on 8/19

Any pregnancy symptoms or pregnancy cravings or aversions? I'm mostly just tired all the time.  I've been a little nauseous on and off, but not bad at all.

QOTW: How did you tell your family and friends about this pregnancy? We told our family right away, most of them the day I tested, and a couple the next day.  We've been mostly telling friends as we see them/talk to them.  I haven't been as excited to share the news this time around, but we have told a good amount of people.  I guess I've just been nervous, and that makes me more hesitant to share.

Open Topic. What is on your mind this week? Q has been on my mind, as always.  I think about how close in age the two would be (13 months), and that makes me sad to know this one will never know his/her brother.

  • @erinel‌ So many hugs. I often am sad about this baby never knowing his/her older brothers as well. But I believe that our babies now have guardian angels. Good luck at your upcoming appointments.
  • MaiTaiBeth it was brought up briefly, but we were more focused on the cerclage.  Our big issue is that 4/4 doctors do not believe I have an incompetent cervix, but no one can say with 100% certainty.  We lost our boys due to Chorioamnionitis after a long labor, and the doctors are worried about the increased risk of infection that comes with a cerclage (or even a pessary).
  • ikrystal : Thanks :)  And sounds like you are in a no-win situation.  That must be stressful, I hope you can come up with a plan that you and your doctors will be happy with.

  • @ikrystal, I wonder if your doctor can do a cervix check on you every 2-3 weeks to make sure the length is good. If anything, it will give you some peace of mind.

  • VyD81 they will be checking my cervix every week.  The catch though is that emergent cerclages are not as effective and they typically cant be done after 20 weeks. With my twins, my cervix was closed and high at 20 weeks so with this singleton it will probably be the same.  If any cervical changes happen it might not show up until it is too late to do anything for it. Yeesh, right?
  • @ikrystal, argh, catch 22. T&P that everything will work out just fine and you will bring home your rainbow baby.
