~*~Friday Ticker Change ~*~

Happy Friday!

1) How many weeks are you/ how big is baby?

2) How are you feeling?

3) Any news/ upcoming appointments/ milestones?

4) GTKY: Realistically, how prepared would your family be in the event of the Zombie Apocalypse? (aside from the whole hugely pregnant/newborn baby handicap, of course)

Re: ~*~Friday Ticker Change ~*~

  • 1. 32 weeks, squash

    2. Still really good and very happy about that

    3. Week two of the birth classes on Tuesday (apparently we are going to look at a video of a birth) and Wednesday is my next appointment.  Still on every four weeks, we will see if that changes after Wednesday

    4. Really well prepared.  I like sales and coupons so I buy bluk or large quantity items I know we will use.  I also enjoy canning as a hobby so I make a lot of my own stuff and preserve it.  I just made eight jars of pasta sauce last night and I'm doing corn and mixed vegetables this weekend.

  • 1.)  34 weeks, Butternut Squash

2.)  Still dealing with the sciatic pain which causes trouble sleeping but great other than that!

3.)  I have an appt next Thursday, nothing too exciting though.

4.)  Probably not prepared at all.  I've never gotten into the whole zombie thing, so I have no idea what we would need to be prepared.  I do some home canning too but that's mainly pickles, so I don't know how well that would tide us over. ;)

PS: @bf43005 Did you use Mrs. Wages pasta sauce mix or make your own??  I'm wanting to try some this year if my tomatoes ever get after it.
  • 1) 32 weeks / squash

    2) Pretty good! Only complaint is that I have a cold or something so I've got a runny nose and junk in my lungs, which makes it hard to breathe/sleep.

    3) A sonogram on Thursday and my shower next Saturday! Also I'm happy bc I finally figured out the right combination of materials & started to make progress on my paper mobile.

    4) I would have to say we're not as prepared as DH probably thinks. He has some ideas about packing up the guns and going to his grandparents' house, or somehow taking out the stairs to the second level and making a stand up there. But we have no food stores or non-electric ways to prepare any. DH does have bathtub water bladders "for power outages" and a water purifier kit "for camping" but really? No, we're going down. Just don't tell him I said that.

  • 1. 35 weeks, 35 days left...woohoo!
    2. I feel pretty good but I have a little bit of a cold leftover and I'd appreciate it if it would just go away
    3. I have my 36 week checkup next Friday and will also have gbs test and an ultrasound to check positioning because as of Tuesday baby is not head down
    4. Absolutely not prepared, I clean the pantry out every week with dinner...so we would be first to go

    1. 32 Weeks/Squash (we are going to have salads instead of babies at the end of our pregnancies)

    2. Good. Really really hot. All. The. Time.

3.I went to L&D the other day for an NST and everything came back fine but the nurses there were asking me about my delivery plans (repeat c-section or VBAC) and they were really excited I was trying for a VBAC. Hopefully that is a good sign. Reg scheduled appointment next week.

    4. It's alarming how much I think about this. I think we are fairly prepaired. We live on the second floor of a secured condo building surrounded by high fencing with a gated parking lot. Best position in the town I live in that I have observed. Also close enough to med facilities and grocery stores for supply runs. Weaponry leaves a bit to be desired but we could clear the building with what we have and upgrade at a later point.

  • 1) 33 weeks. A durian fruit.

    2) Pretty good. Only big complaint is the heartburn. It's bad enough now that last night I was doing a countdown to how much longer I'll have to deal with it.

    3) Appointment next week, but it's just a plain check up. Nothing exciting.

    4) Not at all. Zombies seriously freak me out. I'd be hiding out in a basement somewhere and would probably starve to death there if there was a Zombie Apocalypse.

  • I'd like to note that if we are talking about the zombies that run really fast a la 28 Days Later then we are all doomed. There is no hope for the human race. I would put a bullet in my head so that they wouldnt eat my brain.
  • I just figured out how this ticker thing works... I'm in with you Friday ladies... Hi!
    1) 33 weeks today, and fundal height measuring just a tich below normal, so I trust he's the size of a durian fruit as my email today suggested.

    2) Aside from some heartburn (thank goodness for papaya extract) and a whole lot of feet in my ribs, I'm feeling great.

    3) Continue to be grateful that I passed my glucose test - I found out the actual numbers today and they still think something's a little whack with my pancreas - a super super low 3rd hour reading suggests I'm not regulating insulin production that well, which could be cause for concern in the future. BUT, no finger pricking for now, which is rad, and a baby shower coming up on Sunday that I'm really looking forward to!

    4) I think I'm going to have to bring up zombies to my husband. The crib's put together finally, so prepping for the apocalypse should probably be next on our to-do list. Either that or maybe this baby will come out some kind of super hero, and it'll be up to him to save us?

Have you noticed that the zombies never seem as stressed as the living? I've sometimes wondered if it would be better to just join their team from the get go and save yourself all the frantic and futile barricading...

I make my own sauce.  I found some basic tips on what to use if I'm using fresh tomatoes or canned tomatoes and then a lot of it I do by taste and preference.  DH & I don't like a lot of the salt and sugar that comes in store bought pasta sauce but a lot of homemade receipes call for equal amounts.  For fresh I have followed the Ball canning site recipe and it was a pretty good taste once we made it a little more how we wanted (added some more spices) but very thin.  We like it thicker so added canned tomato paste.  Good luck with your tomatoes!
