SAHM 8/2

Another week down!

This week has been both better and worse. Having gotten Charlie settled on bottles, his screaming has cut way down which means C is also behaving better. We went to a story time that C actually participated in so we'll be doing that library more often. A beach trip with a friend meant C got lots of stimulation and I got to chat with an adult and take a swim! However, my PPD/ppa kicked into high gear so there were some not great moments. My therapist is wonderful and helping a lot and I started meds yesterday.

How were your weeks?

Re: SAHM 8/2

  • Ours went ok, better than the week before. We are working on feeding the babies in their high chairs- aka simultaneously!- which makes a huge difference. There is still some crying during feedings but significantly less because no one has to wait potentially 30-35 minutes to eat. As a result, I cope better.
I am nervous for next week though- we have appointments every day but Friday which means leaving the house a LOT. Fingers crossed it goes well.

  • Also the week before I called my OB to ask for the Prozac RX we had discussed. It didn't get called in until midweek and then I couldn't pick it up until Thursday. I have taken it in the past and tolerated it well so I really shouldn't be this worried about it but I haven't started it yet.

  • @curlylocks I started my meds up again last night.  It's also something I've been on before and tolerated fine at this dose, but I was nervous as well.  I made sure DH knew that he was "on call" during all middle of the night feedings in case I was too tired (mine can cause mild drowsiness for a while as your body gets used to it).  I'm already feeling better this morning just knowing that I am doing what I need to in order to get past this hump.

  • @Lilygrace48‌ that's encouraging. I need to just bite the bullet. The OCD thoughts are just so intrusive. I should be able to do laundry without dealing with them!

  • This week was ok. DF is working a ton (10-12 hour days) and has to go in for a few hours on his days "off". So the baby and I are just trying to fill our days but the days can be long. I can handle the baby, I just wish DF was hope too. I'm really trying to let go of the anger and not explode. I hoping to get through it without medication (I've been on things before and didn't love how I responded). I want to be a place of calm in my family.

  • Also I feel like I totally missed that this was SAHM thread, not pp mood issues. My bad folks, but it sounds like a few of us are dealing with both and the mood issues definitely affect being at home.

Definitely. This check in is for whatever is going on. Mood totally affects home and how you handle it. No worries!

  • H didn't take his leave until last week. I'm ready for him to go back to work. He actually makes it more difficult for me! I love him but he's just as messy as the toddler. Just as loud too.
  • I connected with some other SAHMs who live on the same street this week. It's amazing how a little human interaction with people going through some of the same things really helped me feel OK about being home.

Does anyone else find that their LO (or LOs!) seems so easy until right around the time DH comes home? I know is more or less normal, but I feel of bad for DH... She's always fussy when he's home!

  • @sempre_staccato‌ my LO is and she is more fussy with him then she is with me!
  • @StrawberryDreams219‌ Is she still on two naps? If so, have you considered doing one after lunch nap?
  • @sempre_staccato‌ My husband and I were just talking about this! I feel so bad because he misses out on the times she's calm and happy because he gets home from work so late :(
  • this past week my teething 21 month old was way worse to deal with than the 10 week old.
two year molars are a bitch.
  • @stephross88‌ we are dealing with two year molars as well right now. At least, I think we are. She won't let me look in there but constantly has her hands way in the back of her mouth and she's in a miserable mood.

  • @Lilygrace48‌ DS won't let me look back there either but I finally figured it out when he got Sophie the giraffe out of the diaper bag and shoved it all the way to the back of his mouth. I don't think anything has broken through yet so I think we're in this for the long haul.
  • Kinda stressful we are unpacking everything just moved into a new apartment...my 19month old is teething...she has been acting out lately esp when we go shopping she hates to sit in the shopping cart its so hard to manage both kids esp just going out to dinner or shopping

  • My jeeps door seal is bad so it got soaked and I can't drive it until it's fixed and I'm going stir crazy with no car here. I'm used to at least getting out to the park when I can't get adult interaction. And all you ladies with 2 are terrifying me! Lol

  • misscarter87: We moved across country when my daughter was about the same age, so I can commiserate! The worst part for me was trying to find things I needed, and I couldn't remember where I put them after unpacking...like teething medicine. Was it in her bathroom's medicine cabinet? Ours? The downstair bathroom? Of course not. It was in the kitchen. Of course.

We're making the best of our year pass to the zoo and went again this weekend. I finally found a double stroller on Craigslist that takes our infant car seat, and what a huge difference! We still had to bribe our oldest to ride in the stroller instead of being carried, but I think it was totally worth it (I mean, we were going to let her ride the carousel anyway).
