Lightheaded

Hi ladies. I cannot find the symptoms post, but wanted to ask you all if any of you have a feeling of persistent lightheadedness in any of your pregnancies? I am 13w3d and this started for me on Tuesday of this week and has pretty much continued through today. I went to my doctor on Friday and they gave me an IV for dehydration and Zofran because I have been vomiting more than usual this week (still keeping some things down tho). I feel better nausea wise and have increased my liquid intake, but I am still lightheaded. When I asked my doctor about it she said she felt similar with her pregnancy until about 18 weeks, but I just feel so out of it and not myself so I am very concerned. All my tests checked out ok and the ultrasound looked great on Friday as well. Thank you in advance for your help.

Re: Lightheaded

  • Yeah, I have that this time around, which I didn't have with my first pregnancy.  Drinking a lot of liquids seems to help a tiny bit, but I also can't stomach plain water so it's hard for me to drink a lot - catch-22 here.  Anyway, I don't have any advice because nothing I've done helps me much, just sympathy!  I'm hoping it will ease up soon, but I can't say for sure since this is a new symptom for me.

  • I've been feeling the same. Trying to eat and drink more and hoping it helps... Good luck to all of us suffering!
  • Did they check your blood pressure? In the 2nd trimester your blood pressure can drop and this sometimes leads to this type of feeling. Not sure what can be done, but it might be an explanation to look into further.

  • Thank you for the responses. I hope we all start feeling better soon! This pregnancy has been brutal so far.

@babyonepointoh‌ I was thinking that as well, but my blood pressure was a little high at my doctor's visit. I would get high readings every so often as well before I was pregnant. My doctor is keeping an eye on it for now.
  • I have also had lightheaded spells, particularly when I am walking around. Usually, if I drink lots of water and continuously snack, I feel better. I would grow concerned if you actually start getting faint, but otherwise just keep your doc informed and try not to worry too much.

  • I have been super dizzy as well but I'm not as far along as you. I'm told the dizziness can be iron related. So, eat some beef! We've got so much extra blood running through us it's bound to be confused about where it's supposed to go. Hang in there.
  • I had bad dizzy spells from 4-8 weeks. It helped to make sure i was hydrated, to get up slowly and to have my showers cooler towards the end. Feel better lady!

  • I had this last night. I'm about 11 weeks. It happened after we had to bring these up the 5 flights of stairs from the apartment. After unpacking the groceries, I was really light headed. I sat down, ate dinner and felt better. And drank a lot of water.
  • Thank you all! Much appreciated!
  • I have been super lighted headed too! I just have been trying to make sure I eat every few hours, but with my morning sickness there's no garuntee it stays down. I have just added it to the list if questions to ask at my next appointment. :-(
