Things to do

I feel like Dd and I are in a little bit of a rut. We go to the park, the splash pad, grocery shopping, lunch with friends, etc. that's all great, but I'm looking for things to do with her at home. She loves to read and has tons of toys, but I want to change it up a bit. I bought play doh today at target for us to play with before dinner.

Any suggestions?

Re: Things to do

  • Finger paint with big pieces of paper...

    Bath crayons...

I made holes in the top of a plastic container and got pompoms from a craft store so she can practice putting the pompoms in the holes...

We have a little sprinkler on the deck and we have a bunch of different sized plastic tupperware that she fills with water, dumps all over the place, etc.

Filled a pack and play with plastic balls to make a ball pit...

She loves to practice putting clothes on. If I pile a bunch of her bigger clothes on the floor she will stay busy for quite a while attempting to put pants on and off... same goes for shoes, hair ties, hats, etc.

Hmmmmm, that's all I have for right now, I'll come up with more :-)... I'm always searching for more stuff to do at home! Can't wait to see what others say.

  • What about coloring in a coloring book with her? My DD is obsessed with coloring.

Also, you could buy some bubbles and have her chase after them.

    Sidewalk chalk is fun too!

  • DD is obsessed with playing/sorting our bowl of potatoes.
  • J loves to play with my kitchen stuff, so I've dedicated an entire cabinet to toddler friendly kitchen items. A set of five stackable bowls, some zip lock containers and lids, a set of measuring cups, a few wooden spoons, a colander, a wisk, etc. It's becoming his new fave thing, when we get home from d/c he runs straight to that cabinet.

We also haven't done finger paint yet but it's on my to do list.

Sensory bins are a great idea, I'd love to do that!

Pinterest has a lot of great ideas, there is one on there I pinned using a colander and pipe cleaners, and another one using new paint brushes and new paint rollers and water.

    Henry Cavill...You're welcome!

  • DS has a tunnel that we occassionally get out. He crawls through it, pushes toys through it, lays in it and looks up at the light coming through.

I did the cushion fort yesterday and almost had a heart attack at how many crumbs, socks and plastic kiddie utencils (?) were under them!

After playing with our fort, Jack then used the dust buster to clean for me! Hurray for child labor!

    Fabulous!
