13 week back pain?

I'm only 13 weeks so it's not like I have a big belly, I barely have bloating so it's not like that's the problem. Has anyone else been experiencing back pain? More sore than anything and I experience it at all times of day. I called nurse direct the other night and she had told me not to use icy hot or anything like that. I was just wondering if any of you ladies were experiencing this and what you are Doing to help yourself?? Thanks!!

Re: 13 week back pain?

  • I am 13 weeks and have had back pain for two days. It has been difficult to get comfortable at night.

  • I've got back pain too. Just try to sleep with a pillow under your back if you're sleeping on your side. That seems to help me but I just ordered a snoogle so maybe that will help even more.

  • I've had back pain for a couple weeks. It has helped a lot sleeping on my side hugging my boppy body pillow and icing it when you can. I also try and stretch when I wake up.

  • My back pain is mostly centered on my pelvic area. Its painful to turn in bed or even sit up for long periods of time. What i find helpful is to lie flat for a little bit to stretch it out.
  • I posted a thread previously about pains. I've been having what I consider to be sciatic pain for a few weeks now and I'm only 11 weeks. I find that doing yoga, not lifting or bending too much, and sleeping with a pillow between my legs has helped. DH also rubbed my back for like 30 min the other night pretty hard on my lower back hip bones and that seemed to help. Golf is not a good idea, which made mine much much worse after 18 holes.
  • I'm 14 weeks tomorrow and have had terrible backpain and sciatica since 8 weeks. I also had it last pregnancy. When we went shopping today I had to sit and rest because the pain shooting down my butt and leg was so bad...

  • Past two weeks I've had back pain. Mostly if I have been sitting at work for a while. The only thing that helps is laying down.
  • Ditto on the back pain. It seems to have crept up a lot sooner than it did with baby #1.

  • I have to! I have been alternating ice and heat. With cold packs and a heating pad. It's helped some, but not enough. I was going to ask about a prenatal massage and yoga at my next appointment.
  • At 6 weeks pregnant I went to the chiropractor for an adjustment (my first ever). I did a lot of tumbling when I was younger and cheered through college and get knee and lower back pain. He said I am at risk for sciatica based on some issues I already have without the pregnancy weight that is coming eventually. So I am going to be proactive.

Starting around 12 weeks I have had lower back pain. My next appointment with the chiropractor is at around 20 weeks. I am going to ask about their orthopedic massage and a cushion for my desk chair. The only thing I have found to help is not carry heavy stuff (laundry) up stairs and be careful when lifting things. I also can't walk downhill without it hurting. DH gives me a massage and I like warm baths and using a clay heating pad for a few minutes when it's super sore. I'm also doing tracy anderson "pregnancy project" workouts to hopefully keep my back strength up so this doesn't get unbearable when I start gaining baby weight. I also go to a yoga studio on Wednesdays but we don't do anything that would really strengthen the back significantly so not sure how that would help. It is relaxing though!
