I love the bad advice thread. Makes me laugh!! But how about good advice that you may have gotten? I received three pieces of advice with my first that I have taken to heart..
1. If you are at your breaking point, Don't be afraid to set baby down (somewhere safe!!) And breathe for just a minute. You can't undo what you do out of anger.
2. Write to your baby. I write in a journal at least once a week so I can remember all the little things.
3. Be an involved parent. If you don't occasionally want to throw your kid out the window, you're not doing it right
Re: Good advice
It is ok to feel like you're failing; just know you're not.

This piece of advice saved DS2's life. He was 18 months old and congested. At the last minute, I decided to let him sleep in our room. At 6:00 the next morning, he started choking and by the time I picked him up and turned on the light, he was turning purple and not breathing. Thankfully, I was able to clear his passageways and he was fine in a matter of seconds.
