Nighttime routine/sleeping problems for 7 month old

Hi everyone! I'm new to this board. I've posted on other boards about my troubles getting my DS to sleep and wanted your input on what your daily routine is like with feedings, naps and bedtime. My LO won't go to sleep unless he's nursed/had 8 bottles a day (plus two solid food meals a day) which means bedtime is very late. He won't go to bed before 10pm, sometimes 11! He then wakes up around 5:30-6:30am. Not much nighttime sleep! I'm feeling very discouraged and am desperate for advice. I don't know how to get him to sleep earlier, I've tried with no success.

Re: Nighttime routine/sleeping problems for 7 month old

  • If he's hungry, increase his day time feedings; both in portion size and number. Both of my girls were up to three solid feedings a day by six months.

Also, what is his nap time routine like? He may be over tired or too rested to go to bed earlier. Does he take two to three solid naps each day?

If he's going through or gearing up for a growth spurt (very likely at this age) his feeding pattern may be temporary. My oldest daughter was up later and feeding more frequently between six and seven months old. Then she started to eat more at meals and her bed time became earlier (8 instead of 8:30/9).
