This is my 3rd pregnancy & am curious if any of you have ever used Evening Primrose Oil? I've been reading about it online for days & can't really find negative outcomes. I plan to do a VBAC. Thoughts?? Thanks!

Re: Evening Primrose Oil

  • I have heard conflicting things about it being used after a c-section. It's supposed to soften your cervix, so I could see it being a potential problem, but your body does that naturally anyway, so it could be a non-issue. No solid evidence it does anything anyway.

  • I would ask your doctor.

  •     My chiropractor is also a doula and Bradley Method childbirth educator.  She said 1,000 mg orally 2x a day from 35 weeks, then 1,000 mg morning and 2,000 mg at night from 37 weeks on is a good plan to help me skip my scheduled induction at 39 weeks.  She also said it won't really do anything if my body's not ready anyway.
My OB said she doesn't believe it works, but I can feel free to try it if I want to.  I am trying it, and it seems like he's dropping, and my vagina is a wet mess since I started it!  All of this could also be because we're nearing the end anyway though.
