What a comment!

As I was checking out at Burlington today (all maternity items), the cashier had me speechless.

"I'm so glad I didn't get big with my pregnancy. I wasn't even as big as you the day I went in to deliver. I never had to buy maternity clothes." She then proceeded to show how her size 00 frame only expanded maybe six inches in front of her.

Who on earth thinks this is acceptable to say? Granted I'm not a small person (well, I'm five foot tall and wear a size large,) but still!? Worried about what I will hear in December!

    Some people have no tact.

    My nurse just told me a horror story about another patient with fibroid problems, who ended up delivering at 32 weeks, and she wound up getting a hysterectomy. Thanks lady, that's just what I needed to hear.

    The weirdest part was how she was talking like we were girlfriends and this was in no way a strange or inappropriate conversation topic... No manners at all.

    Wow. People can be so rude. Just because I'm pregnant and you have been, doesn't make us best friends...

    Wow! How rude! At least she didnt reach across and rub your belly.... you need a pat phrase come back :-) I had a girlfriend who would respond to comments by saying, "I'm sorry I have a life threatening illness that requires me to ( take all these pills) and that offends you!" I might switch it up to say, "I'm sorry I have a life long medical condition that causes me to gain a healthy weight during pregnancy and that offends you!" Just something to spin it and make her think before she opens her mouth and something stupid falls out next time. On the other hand, probably go right over her little 00 head!

    No excuse for what she said, but people use what they have in common to start conversations. Not everything has to be PC, but more people should have some filter and think before they speak. I don't think their point was to shame someone, but to try to relate because they were once pregnant even if they didn't get the chance to wear comfy maternity clothes.
