  • Ugh, the poll is supposed to say "lid" not "let". I wish we could edit polls.

  • I'm a flush for #2 person. I doubt DH does it, ever. I've asked him to before, but...

Yes. I am a stickler for this! Not just because germs but I think an open toilet just looks gross. We have toilets with soft-close lids at my house.
LOVE the soft close lids! The only negative is when DS1 is at someone's house that doesn't have them because he slams the lid down every single time.

@TessyMessy‌ um I do that too. We also have soft-close cabinets in the kitchen and I'm always slamming things at my mom's house.
I wish we had soft close cabinets in the Kitchen.. then i could more easily get my midngiht snacks without disturbing anyone!  :\">

  • I don't if I'm on my own but if a kiddo is in there with me then I do. Is this sort of like the "I put my bare butt on the seat but use a foot to flush" people from yesterday?

We keep our toilet lids closed at all times when not using the toilet.  It really bugs me when people come to visit and they don't close them.  I don't want dogs drinking out of them, or kids throwing things in them.

  • I close it because I'm afraid of germs spewing, whether or not the distance they can actually go is true.  Also because my disgusting cats will drink toilet water.  The one might actually even dip his paw into it and track it around, so yes.  Lid shut.

  • If I don't close the lid my cats try to drink from the toilet.
  • I close it, and so does DH. DS does most of the time. My MIL doesn't and it drives me mad. It's SO GROSS.

@elf828‌, speak to me about these soft close drawers and toilets.

seat closed when flushing and after. I picture millions of germs flying around and it makes me wanna throw up. plus, toilet seats up just look so gross. I do open the lid and check to make sure everything went down after it's done refilling though because paranoid it will randomly overflow.

@RondackHiker‌ my parents just redid their kitchen and have soft close everything. whatever brand they got makes it impossible to slam them. at some point something catches and gently glides the drawer/door closed. I've tried really hard to get them to slam (because curious) and it doesn't work.

  • @elf828‌ some of MH's friends do that too. It pisses me off. I'm not gracious when I let them know about it either. I think it's rude!
