Calm me down or something-update kinda

So, I'm only like 5 weeks, 5 days along. This morning, I had some blood on the tissue when I went to the bathroom. Not a lot, but red, not brown. Should I call the doctor? Will she even do anything? I had no bleeding at all with DS, so I'm freaking out.

    I'm so sorry. That's scary!

I'd call the doctor and mention it and ask when you should consider calling or coming in, in case things change. I hope it stops and that blood was all you get.

I don't know if they'll see you. There's not a lot they can do right now, as I'm sure you know. And blood doesn't always mean trouble. It's so scary, though.

((Hugs)) I hope it's all okay.

I'm sorry you are spotting.  Call the Dr's office when they open and they might recheck HCG.  I had spotting with both my pgs.  1st one ended in m/c @ 6w.  I spotted off and on (some bright red) with my twins for 2 weeks.  The cause for the bleeding was never found. I hope it stops and all is well. ((hugs))

Sorry, lurker here, but nobody else has replied yet.

Calm down! Blood is normal and okay, and not necessarily an indication of anything. The thing that calmed me down whenever I saw blood in the first tri, was reading in my pregnancy book that the author, who was an OBGYN and pregnant with twins, bled like a MOFO so badly one day that she just assumed she'd lost the pregnancy and almost cancelled her checkup for the following day. She ended up going, and all was well and absolutely normal.

As a multiple miscarriage "survivor" I know blood is scary but it really truly is most likely to be nothing.

Good luck. I kindof want to suggest you don't look at the toilet paper, but I know that's impossible.

I had minor spotting (needed a pantyliner a few days) and cramping with DS1. I think they did an ultrasound earlier than usual to check but pretty much said there was nothing they could do even if there was a problem. I can't remember if they even told me to take it easy, but I did. It made me feel better at least and in the end it turned out to be nothing. Good luck and try to be calm!

I would call as well but like PPs said it may not be cause for concern. My sister had bleeding during first tri and the cause was unknown.

    Hope everything is ok! ((Hugs))

Call your doctor to ease your mind.  Hopefully it is nothing.  I had some spotting early on with my 3rd baby and it turned out to be nothing at all.  Thinking of you, please keep us updated.

Hugs to you @littlestjerry‌. I had the exact same thing happen to me with this pregnancy when I was about that far along. Just a little bright red spotting for like an hour or 2 with some cramping. I called my OB and she had me come in for betas. All ended up ok and we got to see the heartbeat on u/s at 7 weeks.

Sending lots of positive vibes your way that this ends up the same way for you!

Ok they did a transvaginal ultrasound that showed nothing except that my uterus is thickening some. Doc said she's not super worried about that because it's early but doesn't like the red bleeding. Did a blood draw today and then will do one Monday. She said your weekend will suck, I know, but we won't have more news until probably Tuesday. I don't really feel nauseous which worries me, but my boobs still hurt. This blows.

Eta: I'm actually terrified of the ultrasound result. If someone has any knowledge about that, good or bad, I'd love to hear it.

I had bleeding (bright red) until the 2nd trimester. After seen a high risk pregnancy doctor it turned out to be subchorionic hematoma. Lots of hugs it can be terrifying.

More hugs your way @littlestjerry‌ !

I have no actual clinical experience re: your u/s, but I do knoe that that is the exact reason my dr wouldn't do an u/s when I had my spotting at the very beginning of this pg. She basically said the likelihood of seeing anything pertinent or indicative of the health of the pg was low being so early still. But she did say if anything changed (like hea y bleeding or clotting) to ago to the ER.

So I know this weekend will be tough woth the waiting, but try your best not to stress. Has the spotting slowed down at all?

@MrsT0514‌, how far along were you when your doc said she wouldn't do an ultrasound? Honestly, the spotting sped up right after the transvaginal so I'm hoping it was just because they stuck that big dildo wand in there.

You guys have no idea how great it is to be able to post here and get advice and support and not feel alone. Thank you.

I was pretty sure about when my last period started but didn't write it down or anything so I could be mistaken. I'm literally clinging to hope because my boobs hurt. And need to stop googling.

I had a little spotting with Ollie at around 7 weeks.  I was freaked out!  Just like everyone else said it is totally normal and could mean nothing at all.  Some people spot/bleed through their entire pregnancy.

It may still be too early to see anything on the ultrasound. I had one at 5 weeks and my RE told me that they were looking for a sac that would look like a pea but there was also a chance they wouldn't see anything. Also try no to think about your symptoms . My HCG levels were high and I still had no symptoms until a couple weeks after my first beta.

@littlestjerry‌ my dr straight up said they wouldn't bother doing an u/s until my hcg level was at or above like 3000 I think. So they just did betas a few times a week til then. They ended up doing my u/s at about 7weeks.

I'm sure this means nothing good-the flow has increased a lot and is bright red now. I'm trying to convince myself it's because of the ultrasound, but I feel like deep down I know what's happening.

Waiting is the worst - so sorry you are having to deal with this. Hoping it was just the ultrasound that irritated things. I wouldn't put too much stock in ultrasound results at that early of a stage. The earliest I had was at 6w and you could barely see anything then.

Lurker here....but I also had bright red spotting at 5 weeks. Went in for ultrasound and after ultrasound started passing clots. But baby ended up being ok! They never could figure out the bleeding...just that my cervix looked irritated. Things can still be ok!

    I hope everything is okay.

When I was PG with DS, I had bright red blood, with a period like flow. I filled a pad in 2 hours. I went to the ER fully expecting the worst because of the amount of blood that I had. Turns out that I had a rather large SCH, and that was the source of all the bleeding.
