What about swim instructors?

Do you give them a "thank you" gift?

Dd went from crying hysterically to happily jumping and playing in the water during this two week session. I'm thinking a $10 Starbucks card for both the instructor and the lifeguard for their class.

    Nope.  Too many other people I have to tip.  Besides classes here cost a ton.

    These classes were super cheap! $40 for eight forty minute lessons over two weeks. It's through the local high school district so I don't know how that factors into the cost.

    I wouldn't normally but I am a big believer in showing my appreciation and letting the person know if they really excel at something or go above and beyond. So I guess it depends on how well they did their job.

    Wow that is cheap! There was a sno-ball stand basically in the parking lot of swimming lessons. I always saw the instructors there before or after so I got a couple of prepaid son balls for her.
    Wow! That's awesome. Ours are $115 for 7, 30 minute lessons.

    DS really loved his instructor and I appreciated his patience with DS. I gave him a $15 Starbucks card

    Have you tried the community ed programs?  I haven't so I don't know if they are any good, but my town, BP, has 8 lessons for $64. 
    I haven't. Timing and needing a sitter sent me to the Y, plus I so prefer warm water and that she can play before and after lessons :) I'm high maintenance.

    The only families who ever got me gifts were my private lesson families or those who I taught for years got me something at the end of my last session (I taught some kids every session from parent-tot at 6months until 5 years old). I did get drawings/ thank you notes from almost every single kid in my classes at the end of a session, and I loved them!

    My Y is $40 for 8 weeks of 30 min lessons...
