Nervous & Need Words of Wisdom

Hi! I am 13 weeks today and have been on bedrest for one week due to cramping and bleeding. I was diagnosed with complete placenta previa. I have totally freaked myself out by web md'ing this. My husband and I have been trying for this pregnancy for 3 years and I am afraid I am going to lose our little one. This would be our first baby. Has anyone or is anyone going through this? I could really use some words of wisdom right now. Thank you.

  • I don't have any words of wisdom for you as I've never experienced that before. But I'm sending my thoughts and prayers your way that it will all work out well for you both.

  • I'm vacant if wisdom but I'm really sorry you're going through this! Hopefully the bed rest will help! FX
  • You could take up scrapbooking, prep a scrapbook baby book that you can fill in with pictures of major events after baby has arrived.

  • My friend from college had placenta previa with her pregnancy last year. She was on bed rest for most of her pregnancy and delivered a healthy baby at 34 weeks. They knew the baby would come early, so the Dr gave the baby some steroid shots to help her lungs develop faster. She is now 6 months old and doing great.

  • Had a friend with it and safely delivered at 36 weeks. Has a healthy 3 year old!! You'll be just fine...bored...but just fine. You're already 13 weeks!!!
  • I''m sorry you are going through this. I don't have any experience with this condition, but I'll try to come up with ideas to keep your mind off it. Do you know how to knit, cross stitch, or crochet? I always feel better if I am crafting because it feels like you are making progress on something even if you are sitting still.

If you don't know how to craft, there are great starter videos on youtube. I'd recommend crochet. it's actually quite easy once you get the hang of it, you only need to worry about one hook and a ball of yarn, and you can do a lot (make stuffed animals, make blankets, make clothes).

  • And stay off the Internet!!!itll only scare you more!!!
  • I also recommend crafting and reading.  I knit, I've never gotten the hang of crocheting.  You could knit or crochet stuff for the baby!  Blanket, hats, booties.  Also, agree with staying off the internet...except of course this fabulous board.  T&Ps being sent your way, I hope everything is ok.

  • So sorry you're going through this. I agree, stay off the internet! Do some crafting for the baby.. that's always fun!!
  • Thanks ladies! I taught myself to crochet online. I'm working on peanut's baby blanket. : ) Unfortunately, I have the attention span of a squirrel right now, so my little one may be five when it's done. Thank you so much! You have eased my mind.

    Thoughts and prayers for you.
If I were on prolonged bed rest I'd probably get a language course from Rosetta Stone off eBay. One of those things I'd never take the time to do otherwise.

  • Talk to your doctor more with your concerns. Get off wedMD!
  • I don't have any words of wisdom, but I had lots of bed rest time with my last pregnancy. It's important to not worry too much - that's bad for your blood pressure, and bad for your mood. While on bed rest, I started writing letters to my son before he was born - nothing big, mostly just long notes with thoughts or ideas or plans or wishes and hopes for him. They're in his baby book still. Best wishes to you!
  • I had a complete previa with my last. I was on pelvic rest due to bleeding. Many times the placenta will move before delivery. It is very early on and has plenty of time to move up. They will most likely monitor you to be sure it has moved. It was discovered at 13 weeks and moved completely by 18 weeks for me.
  • I'm 11 weeks and have been diagnosed with placenta previa as well after cramping and spotting. My doctor has put me on Utrogestan 200 mg twice a day to help relax the uterus. She advised that most cases resolve themselves if found early. The placenta moves up as the uterus expands. She warned to expect bleeding if the placenta gets irritated. So no activity that will irritate the top of the cervix, ie. intercourse. There is no added risk to the baby and your chances of losing the baby are not increased in relation to normal pregnancies. Don't google! Rather speak to ur doctor

I don't know about complete placenta preevia but I had placenta preevia will both my previous pregnancies and I was just put on pelvic rest til it moved up and that was that, no problems at all. I would stop googling (hard I know) and just ask your doctor about it!
