Car seat safety check

Does anyone have a suggestion for a place that does car seat safety checks in metro Detroit? I live in Clawson. Mike Savoie in Troy does them but they are booked up for next month and I deliver in September. I tried the RO police, Birmingham Police, Birmingham Fire Dept - all of which said online that they do them but no one seemed to have a clue what I was talking about when I called...

Your hospital that you are deliveing at may do them (mine did St Mary's Livonia) or I would ask the OB if they have any reccomendations..

Did you see this site? It lists everyone in the area with contact names (where available). I used Ferndale as the search because I knew the zip code but it pulls up a lot that would be relevant to you.

I didn't do a car seat check at a place (my husband is solid for this kind of stuff) so I can't vouch for any of the ones listed but it should give you some options.

Please make sure when you get your seat checked that the person is a certified CPST - many at police, fire stations and hospitals are not. You can use the website safekids.org to search for CPST's in your area:

I know the Traffic Safety Association (Fraser) does them for free for Macomb County residents. I see you're in Clawson, so you may be able to call and see how much it would cost, or ask if they could refer you somewhere in Oakland for free. 586-293-5880 or www.trafficsafetymacomb.org - under "Macomb Safe Kids"

Novi police station has a cpst. That's where I had to go. They were wonderful. It was worth by he drive.
