Trying to Get Pregnant

My BFP line is getting lighter. Should I worry?

So, I just can't leave well enough alone.  I used another wondofo this morning and there was no line.  Yesterday and the day before I had very faint lines, but still a lines.  This morning - nothing.  I panicked a little and used a FRER.  It got a line, but it was lighter than yesterdays.

Is this something I need to be worried about?

I apologize if this is a stupid question, but I am a little concerned.  I've lost a pregnancy very early on before, and I don't want that to happen again.

  • It might be worth getting your doc to check your hcg levels, just for your peace of mind. Hpt lines aren't a reliable thing to go by...

  • I would call your doctor just to be on the safe side. Hugs to you and keeping you in my thoughts!

  • I would also go get your Betas checked, if possible.  When I had the chemical pregnancy last month, my lines started getting lighter and lighter until they were nonexistant.  But, that doesn't mean the same thing will happen to you.  FX for you.

  • Ok, I will call my doctor this morning when they open (it's only 7:30 here).  I didn't want to freak out and call the dr if this was a totally normal thing.

    Hoping it's nothing.

    Thanks for the input ladies.

  • I agree with the advice to get your betas drawn. I have heard that a lighter or darker line may not be indicitive of more or less HCG, there could just be more or less dye in that test. The beta levels from a blood draw are the most reliable way to know if you are increasing or not.

Good luck! I know the confusion sucks, but hopefully you will get answers soon and everything will be fine.
  • Not all dye strips contain the same amount of dye. It's a yes or no test, so comparing the darkness of the line is kind of pointless.

    Good luck.

Thank you for this.  I have a pretty nasty anxiety disorder, so sometimes once I start worrying about something, it can get real bad real quick.  I sometimes need people to be blunt with me.

I will still call my doctor and talk to them, but perhaps I will freak the fuck out a little less now.

  • Wouldn't when you test (first morning urine versus evening)and how hydrated you are affect the strength of the line? If you're not having any cramping or bleeding and the FRER is positive, I would not worry about it. But if you'll sleep better, call your doc! And congrats!!

  • My lines were all over the place after BFP. Lesson learned-stop testing after BFP! There could be many reasons for it to happen. Call your doc but try not to stress in the meantime. I know, easier said than done. Good luck and keep us posted.

Did you test with FMU for both?  I had this happen to me a few weeks ago.  Everyone told me to stop testing, a line is a line, etc.  Unfortunately, the lines ended up getting lighter each day and I finally started bleeding a week after my bfp.  It ended up being a chemical pregnancy.

I would give your dr a call.  There isnt much they can do but it will give you peace of mind that everything is ok.

Fingers crossed for a healthy pregnancy!!

I'm in the same boat re: anxiety and it's so hard w/ttgp and being pregnant. I had a similar freakout about the darkness of the lines on my pregnancy tests. I feel for ya! FX for good news.
