Puking at work is the classiest....

Any tips/tricks for hiding morning sickness?? I really don't want to tell people at work before our family and friends!

  • See I'd rather avoid that. I don't feel like it is THAT bad and I'm not the type to take meds even when I'm not prego. I usually just deal.

If you're actually puking, then get the meds. There is no reason to suffer unnecessarily.
This.  I respect your decision not to take meds, but it is not for me.  Modern medicine is a wonderful thing :)

  • This was actually my biggest fear with being pregnant. Luckily (knock on wood) so far, I haven't been sick. There is a vacant partner office across from me where I plan on purchasing an "emergency kit" of mouthwash, thick trash bags, room sanitizing spray, and wipes. It's not a fool-proof plan, but it's what I could come up with. I think if I had it bad though, I'd probably talk to my doc about meds.

  • Ginger Ale works for me. I bring 2 cans with me each day and slowly sip them all day long. It helps, though I still feel nauseated 90% of the time.
  • Thanks! I'll try the ginger ale. I also just read about ginger altoids so I'm going to see if I can find those. If it gets worse I'll see the doc but I don't think I'm to that point yet.
  • I have a little stash of tiny trash bags at my desk. That way, I don't have to run to the bathroom (which is far away, not to mention a dead give away), and I can dispose of it discretely and not have to sit here smelling breakfast in my trash can at my desk.

Tuesday was my first day on unisom/B6 - it helped some (otherwise I wouldn't be able to make it through work), but I'm still pretty miserable. About to ask my OB to call in something stronger for me!
  • Try peppermint oils. Or peppermint flavored anything.
  • Totally just spewed in the trash can at work, but everyone already knows, and they are awesome and making sure I am ok, and getting plenty of water.

  • My doctor recommended vitamin b6 100 mg 4 times a day
  • I ate a saltines cracker before sitting up in bed each morning, took a long shower, and ate saltines en route to work. To be honest, I ate them all day and then had a grilled cheese sandwich for a majority of lunches because of my aversion to meat at the time. My "morning" sickness was it's worst at night unless I had an actual meal for dinner.

I also switched to chewable prenatal vitamins because I didn't need the amount of Iron in the Enfamil prenatals I started with.

After all that, I ended up only telling my two managers the same day I told my mother because I called in sick a couple days and work at front desk. I have an honest relationship with them and would want them to know if something were seriously wrong with me or baby. They still haven't told anyone else, which I appreciate.
