TTC, any words of encouragement?

So I've read all the articles, picked us up some books but starting to get discouraged. Anyone go through this?

It took over two years and eventually IVF for my husband and I to get pregnant. Like you, I read every article and book about ways to improve our chances of conceiving. After a year with no success, I talked to my doctor and eventually saw a reproductive endocrinologist. Everyone told us to be patient and stop stressing, that it would happen when it's supposed to. Of course that was the last thing I wanted hear.

I know it's hard, but try not to get too discouraged. Maybe take a break from the books and articles. You could try using ovulation tests, but after awhile those stressed me out too. If after a year, you're still having trouble, you might want to see a fertility specialist. Until then, try to stay positive. Go away with your husband for a romantic weekend. Chatting wih other women who are also trying to conceive can help too. Hang in there!

  • My husband and I have been trying for 6 years  I had multiple IUIs and months of clomid and injectables.  I just had IVF and it was successful, but I will still be nervous through the first trimester.

I recommend a book called "Every Drunken Chearleader, Why Not Me."  It put an amusing spin on infertility, and made me laugh when I needed it.

Good luck.  I hope everything works out for you!

  • It took a year for me to get pregnant.  If you have been trying awhile with no luck, look into going to a specialist.  If you live in Pittsburgh, I highly recommend RHS in Penn Hills.  Not only did they help me, but they helped my two friends from work as well, who were a bit older when they started trying.  If you ever wanna chat, let me know!  It was rough, but you will get through it.  The Trouble TTC board on here is also a great place to go to talk to people.
