(And if you haven't yet celebrated your 30th...or 20th) then dream BIG!

Mine is coming up in less that 2 months. I just sent DH an email suggesting a really nice Japanese restaurant. We have made a few significant purchases this year, one was specifically for me (a horse!), so I feel like that is enough stuff.

We can all dream about what we want (winning lottery ticket, etc)...so what do you actually plan to ASK for (or what was actually received)??

Mine is right around the corner and I honestly can't think of anything to ask for or do. So lame!! Part of the problem is that DD's birthday is less than 2 weeks after mine so I always kind of forget my own birthday in prepping for hers.

My gift to myself is that I'm running a 10k the day before my birthday.

I'm not a big birthday person but I sort of figured my husband would do something nice, maybe a family/friends party or a weekend away but nope, he did absolutely nothing. He claims that he was so busy with the new baby that it just slipped his mind. Thing is, I had the baby in July and was home on maternity leave until the end of October and my birthday is mid October so I was doing most of the baby stuff. He just turned 40 in March and needless to say, planning something special wasn't really on my list of things to do.

Both DH and I celebrated out 30th birthdays in 2013. We went to Vegas and had a blast (even though I was 35 weeks pregnant with DD). We drove (both love car trips) and went to the Grand Canyon and Hoover Dam. It was great to spend time together away from daily stresses/responsibility before having baby #2.

I've got just over a year to go, and I think I'd like a party. Though, sadly, I have no idea who to invite. So maybe a dinner with some friends.

DH has to go to a wedding on my birthday this year (for a variety of reasons, I'm probably not going), so next year should be doubly good!

For DH's 40th we just did a really nice dinner and I got him a rolex which took so much subterfuge it was unreal (we share bank accounts and he is really the one who manages it all ... He would have died if that much $ went missing and then he'd have told me not to get it, but he deserved it and we can afford it, he just isn't the type to spend $ on himself).

Mine is in about 15 months... I'm going to take a girls trip to Hawaii with my BFFs later in the year. I do NOT want a party so probably just a nice dinner out with DH... maybe my own rolex.

We are 6 months apart so I'm determined for us to celebrate our 40th (in 3 years) in Italy. The kids will be old enough to stay with grandparents for an extended time, so I need to make this happen in 3 years!!

@jlaOK That sounds like it was fun, I would love to take DH to the Grand Canyon.

DH and I will be hitting 30 around the same time, I would love to combine our gifts into a trip abroad. I would love to go back to Japan but I'm sure DH wants to go to Europe.

My 40th ended up being the day DS came home from the NICU. I truly can't remember whether anyone bought me anything.

For 35, DH arranged for my mom to stay with DS overnight and we took the train to NYC, stayed at a fancy hotel, met up with friends for lunch, and topped it off with dinner at Craft (I am obsessed with Tom Colicchio). It was a great birthday.

I had my 30th almost 2 years ago. Because I'm on my laptop alot DH thought an Ipad would be great. I could care less about it, I use my laptop to type so and Ipad is kind of worthless to me. DD plays on it all the time though.

By the time I'm 40 both kids will be over 10, I'm getting an itch for another so if that happens, that baby too would be about 7, so I think a vacation with just DH and I would be great. I'm still don't want to leave the kids a family vacation would be nice too.

I was just telling DH that I'm planning to have a mid-life crisis when I turn 40, and I plan to go on a cruise with my girlfriends. Because I'm the type of person who plans a midlife crisis 6 years in advance. I also told my girlfriends that I would kidnap them if I had to.

This is going to sound so shallow compared to others, but I'm hoping to get my dream car for my 40th in 2.5yrs. Is it still shallow if I'm a 'car person'? Yeah, I think so.

I was totally spoiled by DH for my 40th. He surprised me with a trip to Vegas for a long weekend. He never plans anything so this was a total shocker. Even called my mom to arrange for her to babysit the 2 girls and worked with my manager to get 2 days off of work. I was so surprised! But be careful ladies - 9 months after our visit to Vegas I delivered our son! What happens in Vegas does not always stay in Vegas.

I would love to rent out a beach house for a long weekend with my girlfriends for my 40th, to sit around, drink, and watch the ocean. I have a spring birthday, so a weekend rental should be feasible. I'm hoping I can pull it off with our crazy calendars.

For DH's 30th, I threw him a huge surprise party - catered, full bar, 50 people.... everyone had a blast. DH threw me a smaller surprise catered dinner with family and my closest friends - also very nice.

For my 40th, screw the party, I want a vacation with just DH somewhere on a beach and lots of cocktails with little umbrellas in them.

For our joint 30th birthday last year (our b-days are within a week of each other) we went out to dinner. Exciting, huh?

When we turn 40, DD will be 12. I'd love to leave her and potential other kids at grandma's and go to Europe.

For my 30th, we threw a party in the lounge of our favorite local wine bar. It was awesome. Good food, good wine, good friends and good family. Everything I wanted for my 30th.

Not sure about my 40th...maybe a trip with our friends or alone. definitely all inclusive!

Mine was last year, and DH spoiled me like crazy. He took me on a city boat cruise with dancing, roses, music, champagne, bought me an outfit for the event, and made me a cake!

Mine was last year and my husband threw a party for me at our house. I also got a matching diamond earrings and necklace, new pots and pans (which I was actually happy about) and a new TV for our bedroom...which, let's be honest, was really for him. All in all it was great but my 41st birthday present was 100 times better. He got me 2nd row tickets to Blake Shelton. Even better, Blake grabbed my hand. I died. Love that man.

I didn't do much for my husband's 40th. Originally I planned a trip to Vegas with our friends but he got wind of it and said he didn't want to go so I ended up inviting his sister over and had some local BBQ that he likes. I'd like to do something fun for his 43rd this year...maybe a concert. Anything without the kids is a nice change.

Being that DD's birthday is two days before mine, and DS's is four days before mine, everyone pretty much forgets about my birthday (including me). So if I can just sleep in or something that day, I would probably be pretty excited about that.

Mine is two years away, and I've already told DH that I want a proper beach vacation (with kids or without kids - I haven't decided yet). Every year, my piddly amount of vacation gets eaten up visiting family, and next year, I'll hardly have any vacation time because it will have been eaten up by maternity leave. I'm thinking St. Martin/St. Lucia...somePLACE lovely. And by then I won't be pregnant and I should be about done with nursing, so I can fully enjoy tropical drinks.

For DH's 40th last year, I surprised him with having his sister and two brothers (with whom he's really close and who he doesn't get to see much) fly in for the weekend. He loved it. I wanted to surprise him, but didn't want to do a party.

I've always told DH that I want a breast reduction for my 40th birthday (5yrs away). We will be done having kids by then/I will be done nursing and I've "handled" the back pain long enough. I'm now thinking I would like to tie in a tummy tuck as well.

This sounds so crazy when I write it out because I am the lowest maintenance, least vain women ever. However, these things cause me physical pain (back), and massive frustration with clothes (tummy). And I would like to be free of them. Plus I would never be able to be okay spending the $$ unless it was for something like a milestone birthday.

Wine country vacation with DH. No kids. Italy or south of France if we can afford it, Napa/Sonoma if we can't swing the airfare. I want a really nice hotel with a fireplace in our room and a giant bed. 6 years to save up for it!

My 40th is in less than two months and I also just want to go to a Japanese restaurant. LOL

I updated my amazon wish list the other day with some lame stuff like a rain barrel and a compost tumbler, but really I don't care if I get gifts.
