I voted SS on this one b/c I think DH ranked a little higher than 'other family members' and I think it's effing awesome that he's the one who will care for our LO. Also didn't see an option for SAHM and I bet that's gonna be a lot of the vote?

This. DH works nights - he'll take the day shift with LO when I go back to work.

  • DH. He will work weekends.

  • SS: working from home so the grandparents will both be helping out, but I will still be trying to juggle work and baby. (Currently WFH part time). Once LO is about 4 or 5 months, she'll be going to daycare at my husband's office for 3 days and staying with my mom the other 2.

Once she's 18 months, we will start her at the same school where dd1 is, though dd1 will be a big girl in kindergarten by then!
  • Daycare 2 days a week and grandparents 1 day a week is the plan starting mid-September.

  • DH and my mom.

  • A sitter who only has her kids and DD will have her 3x a week, DH 1x per week, and grandparents or aunt 1x per week.

  • I voted in home daycare but because DH is a cop and works twelve hours shifts he will be able to be home with LO two days a week. So she will only be in daycare the other three days.

  • We are in the process of looking for someone right now.  The woman we hired - and loved like family - to watch C decided she doesn't want to watch kids anymore, after 17 years of doing so.  I'm still hurt/angry about it.  We will likely go with another in-home provider (i.e., we take the kiddos to her house) because actual centers seem to be waaaay out of our budget.

  • I voted grandparents but it's actually my parents 3 days per week and my aunt and uncle 2 days. I was surprised to see how many grandparents will keep the babies!
  • We have quite the system worked out. Both kids will go to a church based Mother's Day out. Older DD will go 5 days a week and new LO will go 3 days a week. Grandma will pick them up all days and watch them till I get home, and watch little LO on the days he doesn't go. DH is home one day a week and will have duty that day.

  • We are very lucky to have my awesome mom watching her at our house when I go back in September. It's such a relief to know she's in good hands. :)

  • My MIL will be watching DD when I go back to work. I will probably start back only 3 days a week for the first few weeks to give us all an easier transition.
  • Traditional daycare 3 days a week, DH to work from home 1 day a week, and I'm working all Sundays to be home Fridays.
  • I'm going back to school in September and we've found an awesome flexible in-home daycare at our neighbour's house right across the street. She's flexible and affordable. Couldn't be happier!

  • I'm so jealous of all of you that have family watching your kiddos.  Am I the only one who has to hire full-time (M-F, all day long) care?

You're not alone! We're coming up to the end of our first week.
  • My mom only lives 5 min away, so she will be watching LO when I go back to work in sept.

Same here. Although i dont go back to work until September. We found an affordable in home daycare on our way to work. Everyday, 5 days a week. DH and I used to carpool to work but that will be too late to pick her up. The plan is for me to get to work earlier so i can leave earlier to pick her up. DH will drop her off in the morning.

This exactly. My mom is a nurse who works Sat-Sun and I will WFH on Fridays.

  • I work from home 3 days a week and am out in mtgs 2 days a week so we just hired a nanny for the two days I'm not at home.  She is AHHH-mazing! She asked me what she could do to help around the house when baby was sleeping and I told her I needed to mop the kitchen and do LOs laundry. She mopped the entire house and did all of his and mine and DHs laundry too! And its less expensive to have her than take him to a daycare.  Double bonus!

  • SS here! And also first time poster...

My husband a I work together, before my maternity leave both of us worked 3-11:30. I put in a hardship with our HR dept to switch to days so one of us can always be home with baby A. As of today they have not approved my shift change and will not guarantee either will be able to switch shifts leaving us scrambling to find someone to watch her while we work nights. We are both incredibly frustrated.
