Pregnant after a Loss

can I just rant for a second? (possible trigger topic mentioned)

So, I was reading through some posts on 1st Tri, and came across one asking for advice... within which, without warning, the poster asked whether or not she should abort her baby. I'm sorry, but as someone PgAL, that was impossible for me to read without having a negative reaction and feeling like crying & choking someone at the same time. Am I way out of line for expecting people to at least warn readers in the subject line that it may be a trigger topic?
end rant... for now.

  • I haven't looked at that post because I choose not to but I'm guessing/hoping that the poster is new to the Bump and doesn't know the proper etiquette.

  • I'm sorry that you ran into that unexpected!  I don't know what the etiquette is on First Tri - if she posted that here, I would definitely think it was inappropriate.  Does First Tri have a set of rules that they follow or is it much more lenient because so many come and go?

  • There really isn't a set of rules regarding it, and it is more lenient. Maybe it's just my PgAL brain, or the nerves that go with my upcoming appt, or the fact that I'm just pretty anti-abortion-as-a-form-of-birth-control, but I was all sorts of ragey
  • Nope glad I didn't see it...the wanting to choke feeling would of commenced! I agree I don't think it should be birth control either:( why would you ask strangers about a life altering event like that?

  • This is the second post I've seen today on the boards about people asking about abortions because they're "unsure" or "not ready" or whatever... and all I want to say is YOU SHOULD HAVE THOUGHT ABOUT THESE THINGS BEFORE YOU HAD UNPROTECTED SEX!!!
  • @mandi195‌ EXACTLY!!

  • To be fair, the OP never said that no BC was used. There is no 100% effective BC, so yea...

I'm not saying that it is advisable to ask an Internet forum of strangers advice on abortion, but, more than likely, it is MUD. No point in paying it any mind.

  • I would think a disclaimer would be in order.  That's a trigger topic no matter where you are in the world, so whether or not the board specifically has a rule, I think it would just be common decency.

Do you think it could have been a troll just trying to be inflamatory?

  • Yeah, I put in my 2 cents and left... maybe I'm just extra hormonal and sensitive today...
  • The OP didn't respond and has never posted before, so more than likely a troll.

    It's very very possible...
  • I would have nothing nice to say to the poster. Your choice is to have sex.....not kill a child. I also think that going on a forum is the most insane place to discuss something of that magnitude

I actually went and hunted the post down and I agree with you. I think her post is kind of inappropriate for this site really. From where I stand I thought TB was generally a place for women who want to be pregnant. She mentions that she had a previous abortion so she's obviously being very irresponsible when it comes to sex and basically using abortion as a form on BC. Then again maybe she's just freaking out and posted on the first pregnancy related site she found. She could also just be a troll. I'm sorry you had to unexpectedly come across that.

I agree that she should have at least put a warning in her post. I'm not going to judge anyone for their life choices but being the PGAL situation I am in, I definitely would not want to read or hear about someone wanting to a abort a baby. I'm sorry you had to read that ((hugs))
