New to motherhood; bursting with questions

I was just wondering if any other moms-to-be could help me out. I'm curious to see if I'm a weirdo or just as normal as can be? I started showing around three months (I've always been thin and the weight gain scared me to death) I know I have to let my body gain weight because I'm now responsible for a fetus but I feel like since I hit 17 weeks (I'm 20 wks tomorrow) I've gained a little too much. I stick out and now bump into things. It doesn't hurt it just makes me upset and the baby go crazy kicking. Did anyone else have a problem with standing out too much? And I do have my belly button pierced, when should I take it out? Im sorry if this is a "repeat post" I just don't have a "mother-figure" to ask these thing.

I see that this is your first thread... so welcome & congrats!  If you are concerned about your weight gain and bumping into things have you expressed these concerns with your OB, MW, etc.?

Here is a Wiki and an Article from What to Expect When Expecting on Navel Piercings:

  • Sounds normal! I am 21 weeks and people ask if I am due soon. Don't worry to much about gaining weight. As long as your doctor agrees you are healthy then it is all good.

My ob has been the same since I was younger so she knows I struggle with weight. But so far she says I'm right on track. Which does help. Thanks for the congrats. And my ob says I should be fine for a while leaving the piercing in it just gets caught..... On everything! Haha. I think most of my nervousness is due to two previous miscarriages so I'm trying to do everything I'm supposed to

My 11 year old sister got bumped into yesterday haha. Thanks. You guys really did help. I feel better about my weight.
  • Welcome & Congrats. If your OB isn't concerned with your weight gain up to this point you shouldn't be either. They will let you know if your on track or not at any given time. Also if the piercing is getting caught on things I would personally take it out. That is just my opinion on the piercing - I don't have one.
