Trouble TTC

Endometriosis/Short Luteal Phase/ One tube & one Ovary

New to trouble TTC-
I am 30 years old, newly married.

History of Endometriosis, which resulted in loss of my right tube & ovary in 2010.
Short luteal phase after tracking my menses & ovulation with Clear Blue Easy Digital ovulation tests- usually ovulate around day 16 and then start a period 9-10 days post O.
I am a nurse on an OB/GYN floor and found a doctor who agreed for some general blood work. Progesterone, TSH, Estradiol, FSH and Prolactin.
My 7 day post ovulation was 10.5, which indicates ovulation...but not an awesome number. All other labs were ok.  FSH was 10.2
He has since started me on Prometrium 100mg three times daily. I got my "O" on Saturday- and started my prometrium on Monday. I feel "buzzed"...dizzy. But its worth it if it increases my progesterone and chances to build my endometrium to hold an egg!! :)
I am feeling the pressure with turning 30, and feeling the endometriosis pain coming back. I don't think I can take another surgery- im three in already. My doc will do three months of prometrium, then three months of clomid before referring me to a RE.
Im hoping I can find women who share my struggles so I don't feel so alone. Im soooo tired of hearing "Just relax", and "Trying is the FUN part"....ughhhh

  • Hi! I'm sorry you are going through all that. I too had dizziness and I sort of felt tipsy with the progesterone! I usually took it before bed or when I'm sure I'm in for the night. I'm glad you're able to start some treatments; I would recommend getting ultrasounds while taking clomid to check for cysts because clomid can cause these. Good luck!

  • I'm so glad you got treatment for the short LP, but it is so sad that you are feeling the endo return again!! I really hope you get that BFP before it gets bad. Perhaps it would be worth it to move onto IUI earlier for a faster chance?

I have a related endo question actually (since I'm getting a lap to check for it), do doctors ever put patients on BC pills for a while to shrink the endo before treatments, or does it just stay the same or grow anyways?

    Thank you! :)

  • Im going to try 3 months of prometrium, then 3 months of clomid- then see an RE. I guess im just scared that everyone will think im crazy seeing an RE after only 6 months. But by then, itll be 11 months trying.

What do you mean by "monitoring me on clomid"? By ultrasounds and such?

My last lap was 2011 I believe- I was immediately put on oral contraceptives and it has kept the pain down to a minimum. Ive only noted pain again since stopping it while trying to conceive.
I truly hate to complain when I know im doing what I have to do in order to get pregnant...but this prometrium is making me sick! I feel so flu-ish and dizzy. Im just praying my body starts adjusting better and we get a BFP soon...then just 10 more weeks on it!! HA

  • Sad morning- im day # 26 and couldn't wait to take a preg test. negative.
I just knew the prometrium would help.
I spoke with my hubs this am- Im going to talk to my doc today to set up an HSG- It's $1300.00 for me...but well worth my piece of mind. With my endo pains, it could possibly be blocking my tube.
I really appreciate this board- and have found an odd peace with being able to express my feelings and actually have someone understand. My husband is amazing...but has no idea what goes on in the female system.
Hope you girls have a great day :)
    Thinking of you.
  • Hi  -  I hear you.  I just had my HSG on Friday lat week and my R tube is blocked from endo (they say) and my RE doesn't know if my open left side is really open or if there is endo that is causing a hostile enviro.  I'm O'ing on my left side this month (any day now!) and he could see that on the saline ultrasound.  He sat me and my husband in the office to go over next steps. He wants to do lapro surgery to remove the endo and try to open the R tube, clean the left if it needs it.  He said the HSG doesn't show everything and he'd see more doing the lapro.  He doesn't want me on IUI/clomid meds b/c of only 1 working side, he said he would go straight to IVF.  He was able to see my egg reserve on the first consultation so I was relieved to know it was OK.  It feels so good to go to someone who is a real specialist, I would agree with the above and say go to someone good.  I'm in NYC so have very good choices, i can recommend my guy if you need someone and are around here.  Good luck!
    TTC#1 since Aug 2013, I'm 37, DH 41.
Maya Arvigo Abdominal massage (daily self care), plus TTC meditations.
I'm very sensitive to diet (gluten, avoid processed foods) and environment. Have a history of inflammation and tendinitis before going off gluten in 2009.
July 2014 - RE Visit #1: Eggs look good, Endometrioma on R ovary, HSG showed blocked R tube close to ovary. DH SA normal
DX: Endometriosis probably the IF cause and gunking up tubes.  Since egg reserve is high, RE says I can wait a couple months and then get laproscopic surgery to remove endo & clear tube.  If that doesn't help then move to IVF.
Dec 2014 - Saw new RE - does not recommend surgery on tube as it isn't likely to help.  Doubts I have endometriosis.  My endometrioma shrunk to neglible size (yay!)
    Seriously considering IVF in March/April
    12/17/14 - Natural BFP!
