food strike

I feel like O is on a food strike today. He barely ate breakfast, he had a piece of cheese and a few grapes (after the fruit thread this morning) and 2 bites of his sandwich for lunch. I cut some apples up and he wants them but then spits them out. He is such a good Eater and will normally eat all day long if I let him.
He normally has sippy or straw cup during the day with milk, but today he's refusing those too. He only wants a bottle with milk.

This is all very out of character for him.

Wondering if anyone experienced this with their lo's?

Re: food strike

  • Ty is going through this too. It's usually tooth or illness related. If it lasts more than a couple days it's usually illness in our house

  • Kind of? DD has started doing this thing where she licks the food before deciding to eat it or not. She usually does it towards the end of the meal but its still really strange.

  • We're going through this too and it's driving me bonkers. She's also started refusing all the fruits and vegetables that she used to love and been living on PB sandwiches lately. I'm pretty sure it's teething related.

  • We were going through this last week. It turned out to be an ear infection (and there was no fever).
  • Hmm. Interesting. I'll watch him for the next few days, and I'll take him in if he doesn't change.

    Thanks

  • Benjamin has been refusing lunch at daycare since last Tuesday (he only goes twice a week, so this is day 3 of no lunch at lunch time). He's been eating it later, though. Usually at afternoon snack time, but today it was during nap time... Last week he was definitely working on a tooth, but it pushed through over the weekend. I'm not sure what's going on today. Maybe more teeth?

  • Sounds exactly like DD was 2 weeks ago when she was sick. She was also acting sick (no energy, coughing). Even though she started feeling better in a couple of days it was over a week before she went back to eating normally and there are still some foods that seem to be permanently off the menu :( I wouldn't be too worried, I feel like it is pretty normal. Try too make sure he is still drinking a lot to keep hydrated.

  • Colton did this last month or so for two days. Then on the third day he started running a fever, on the 5th day we discovered that he had Mouth Hand Foot thing in his mouth and had large sores in the back of his throat. I started offering only cold and mushy food like watermelon and yogurt and he started coming around as his sores got better.
Hope it's nothing and O's just having one of those days and not getting sick :(
