hey ladies! it's been a bit of time - the short of the story is after my break from 2 failed IUI it was A LONG TIME until AFed showed. but finally we're back on track for IUI #3 (CD 10 monitoring on Sat). my question: has anyone switched from IUI to IVF? our daughter was born with IUI (#2) but I'm wondering if we should move on. it would be a huge step because we'd be totally OOP and obviously need to talk to my RE but if anyone has any experience or thoughts i'd appreciate it. 
i should add - DH and I have decided 2 more cycles (whatever those may be IUI, IVF) and then we are done at least with IF treatment.

    We did two IUI's and then moved to IVF when we were still diagnosed "unexplained." I know it's different for everyone, but moving to IVF is what figured out our issue - since we had a 0 fert rate. At that point, we could have done IUIs til the cows came home and would have had issues getting pregnant. Good luck figuring it all out, I hope you find success on whichever path you take.

    Welcome back! We were unexplained with a history of a pregnancy from an unmonitored TI cycle when we went to the RE. We did three full IUI cycles before moving on to IVF and had success with our second full cycle. It was really hard to bring out the big guns- especially knowing that I'd conceived before. But, IVF offers a unique look at embryos, which revealed an embryo Issue on day 5.

    The RE always thought we had phenomenal fert rates- he was right- but that something went wrong around implantation or shortly thereafter. IVF confirmed that suspicion. I really think Assisted Hatching is what contributed to our success and I'm so glad we went to IVF when we did.
    TTC in 2009, Dx: Unexplained IF
    Three TI cycles (BFP...miscarriage), five IUI attempts and 2.5 IVF cycles later...BFP!!
    12dp5dt: 765; 15dp5dt: 1979; 17dp5dt: 3379...TWINS!!!!!
    Our perfect baby boys were born at 36w1d!!

    Welcome back! Good luck with whatever you decide. We gave it four IUI's both times, and this time needed to do IVF. I'm very glad we did the IVF cycle seeing what we learned and how things turned out.

    No IVF experience here but for treatments we did have to pay completely out of pocket for everything. With that being said I personally would have to do another IUI due to cost because IVF would of been 10k more. Now after three I would go to IVF since I was always told do three then move on. Then again I have a friend that got pregnant on her fourth but her treatments were covered. Good luck on whatever you decide!

    Married: 5/09 ~ TTC Since: 10/10 ~ PCOS ~ Progesterone from 10/10 - 2/11 ~ HSG on 3/18 - Clear ~ Started Metformin 1000mg & Clomid 50mg 2/11 ~ Metformin upped to 1500mg 4/6 ~ 6/7 Now going to SG and put on Clomid, Ovidrel, Gonal F, Prometrium, Estrace ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP!!!!!! March 6th our little man was born. 

    6/17/13 - Ovidrel, Follistim, Prometrium ~ IUI #1 7/2 = BFP! March 17th our St. Pattys day baby arrived

    10/29/17 - Started process for IVF, got pregnant & miscarried a 2nd time since summer. 2/22 started stims - Menopur, Gonal F, Cetrotide - retrieval 3/6 - , PIO, estrace 3xday - FET 4/18 = Beta 1: 616; Beta 2: 1342 = BFP

    Welcome back.  We are unexplained as well. We did several cycles of IUI and I got pregnant but ended up in a m/c.  Eventually we moved on to IVF.  We are covered by insurance, but basically our RE said IVF has a much higher rate of success and insurance would rather pay for an IVF instead of continued IUI,  GL to you.
