DH works with a lot of women (mostly 50+). They love our DD & I always bring her in for visits & DH shares a lot with them.
Lately they have been telling him it's time we start her on rice cereal, and he also told me his mom said this too. DD has no reflux, and we are doing just fine at 4months right now & I was planning on introducing solids at 6mths. For some reason DH is taking all their advice seriously & I told him a lot has changed since they had babies 30+ yrs ago. How do you politely decline everyone's a constant advice??

Re: Is rice cereal not the best option anymore?
1) i don't think rice has ever been the ideal first food.
2) "we're very excited to start our little cherub on food! it's so hard to wait until 6 months, but we're confident this is the best decision based on current research and the advice of our pediatrician. we'll be sure to share photos of his/her first encounters with the spoon if you want to see them in a few months!"
give your husband some reading material - there is ABUNDANT compelling evidence out there that vegetables are a better option for first foods than (ETA rice cereal.. don't know why the post cut it off!)
Are you also asking how to convince your husband that waiting / skipping rice cereal is the best choice? There's been several good articles posted yesterday in another thread that you could share with him. Or there's probably hundreds of others from good sources easily found with a quick Google search.
Yeah this post is a little confusing since the title asks 1 question and the post asks a different question.
Rice did used to be what people usually started their kids on, but the trend is now to move away from that b/c rice cereal doesn't have hardly any nutritive value....and I think rice was more popular back when starting your kids on solid at 4 months was still a thing.
I can commiserate on what you say about your husband, though. DH is awesome in many ways, but he has a bad habit of not researching anything kid related but picking up on this or that tidbit of information from God knows where and running with it like it's gospel.
He has actually said multiple times to me and others that we will start DD on rice cereal at 6 months, when, in fact, even with our older child we started with sweet potato not rice. When I tell him this (and we've now had this conversation multiple times) he's really surprised each time....sometimes every day is a new day for him.
