Lovenox

Does anyone else use Lovenox? I was recently diagnosed with Factor V Leiden so this time around my doctor put me on baby aspirin and Lovenox. Tonight I took my first Lovenox injection and it stung soooooo bad, worse than Menopur. Anyone else? It also said in the instructions to lay down to do the injection, is that necessary? I am also a huge hypochondriac so I've been nervous about starting it.

 All Welcome :)

Re: Lovenox

I've been taking lovenox for a year now. I take it when ttc naturally too so that's why I've been on it for so long. I never knew you were suppose to lay down when taking it, hmmm. I don't think it matters but maybe check with your doctor. My reproductive immunologist never said anything to me about laying down when taking it. It does sting, yes worse than menopur but it gets easier. I just take it as quick as possible.

I took it with IVF #3 and asked my nurse about the pamphlet instructions about laying down. She said sitting was fine and that she thought it might just be to make it easier to pinch the flesh for the injection (so sometimes I gave it to myself standing up, like I did with the rest of the meds). I iced it for a few minutes before the injection and that really helped (the couple of times I couldn't because I had to have the injection when away from home it stung a lot worse). Also, based on recommendations, including from @przemosbabe I tried to give the shot further away from my belly button, and that initially helped with the bruising (which liked to develop the next day or so). After I had been on it for weeks, though, it was hard to avoid the silver dollar bruising. Also, try not to press or rub on it right after, and that will help minimize bruising; although sometimes mine would bleed and I would need to apply pressure to get it to stop.

I may have bruised a little easier while on it, but that was the only side-effect I saw. I didn't notice bleeding any more during blood draws or if I accidently cut myself.

    Good luck!

Yup, unfortunately Lovenox just hurts. Some locations hurt more than others, but it's never a painless injection.

Since you have FVL, though, this injection is so, SO important for you and any potential embryos. Try to hold onto that thought while you're injecting. I also found copious swearing helped.
