You should have an SS option. They're both way too over used IMO. And Jaxon should be Jackson. Spelling it differently will only cause your child grief having to correct everyone on the spelling his whole life.
Nothing is wrong with Jackson. I simply like the Jaxon spelling and the nickname Jax. We already have an addysen and a camryn and their spellings haven't been an issue at all. Also, my name is Aimee and that hasn't been an issue either. I rather enjoy the comments I get when I tell people my correct spelling. Generally people like it... Not that it matters
If we go with Jaxon, then yes, I'll call him Jax sometimes. Not sure about Gray though. Then again, I said I would never call my Addysen " Addy" and I'm probably the one who calls her addy the most lol
Yes it is but he goes by Jax which I thought was weird at first but it's grown on me. There's no way I could name my son jasper. Or use "Jackson" for that matter. I prefer the non traditional spelling. I don't understand why anyone would give anyone else grief over the spelling of their name. That just seems rude and mean... IMO

You asked for our opinions, and that's what you're getting! I'm sorry, I guess, that the consensus is against an incorrect spelling of the name Jackson, but it is what it is, and there are some good reasons given here for preferring the original spelling.
Name your kid what you love. No need to justify it to us. But don't come ask what we think and then get mad when you get an answer you didn't want to hear! [-X
ETA: I realize now that you mean folks giving your DS grief over the spelling of his name, not us in this thread. So disregard the above. However, whether or not he'd get "grief" for his name isn't really the issue...he'll be spelling it for everyone his whole life, or correcting how people automatically spell it.
My DH and I had a discussion on the name Jaxon. Simply because he liked Jack and I have family members that are "Jack" so I liked the nickname "Jax" better... Anyway, we decided on something completely different, but I vote for Jaxon

And if you think that your child will never encounter "rude and mean" people, you're naive.
When I worked at an investment bank the guys on the desk used to review the resume books from HBS, CBS & Wharton to choose summer interns; the conversation would typically begin with judgement of the name. I'm sure you can figure out the rest.
While I do not agree with this practice and think those guys are assholes, crap like that happens. Your child will have to live with his name for the rest of his life, not you.

I named my son Jaxon. He's now 5. I didn't want the traditional spelling either. It just didn't "fit". We usually do call him Jax. I actually was going to name him Jaxon Blake, but decided to use a family name as his middle name. I have a very odd name and yes, I have to tell people how to spell it but I don't see how it's a big deal. I have a common last name and have to spell it for people, too. I wouldn't worry about the spelling part. Just pick the name you love I've never once thought that my parents should have named me differently. They named me what fit and I couldn't imagine it being any other way.

I vote Grayson just because I like it more than jaxon. I don't think jaxon is an "incorrect" way to spell it. It's just an alternative way. That is why baby books have multiple spellings of the same name. I know several jaxon's in our area and nobody thinks it's strange.
Guys, there will be one billion Jaxons by the time our kids are professionals. It's so popular. They will get jobs. They will be taken seriously. This is not to say that I'm not completely over this spelling. But it's like saying you won't be taken seriously if you have tattoos. Everyone and their boss has tattoos and they know ten kids named Jaxon.
I voted for Grayson. If you are just planning on calling him Jax why don't you just name him Jax in the first place? I have a Jackson and people are always asking me how I spell it because there are so many other people out there that have changed up the spelling for their kids. People have already asked me how I'm going to spell my daughter's name, as if they are expecting me to add a Y in there or find some other way to make it "unique".
I really like Grayson, always have. Jackson/Jaxon/Jaxson makes me cringe. I hear it everywhere! I love Jack though surprisingly. Jax is similar but sounds so trendy and isn't nearly as timeless.
I voted for Grayson. I'm not a fan of spelling names differently just for the same of being different. If the name is pronounced Jackson, then why not spell it like Jackson? Doesn't make sense to me. That said- your child, your choice! Do your thing and own it.

This. People will be judged on their names. It's not fair but it happens.
I love Jaxon. Honestly I have one of the easiest most common names you could find (first and last) and people still ask me to spell my name so I wouldnt worry too much about that.
I like Grayson a lot better. Though, that may be partial to the fact that if I can convince my better half this is a name I prefer! We don't know what we are having and have to have names picked out for either a boy or a girl! My friend is naming her son Jaxon and I thought it was a cute way of spelling the name. Either way, both are nice but I prefer Grayson!

Grayson is trendy but at least would work well on an adult.
I like Gray, if you are planning on using Grayson.
