Hair loss :(

I have been losing hair like crazy the last two weeks. Hair balls in the shower. Cleaning out my brush daily and LO has it stuck in all his fingers and toes.

Is there a point when it stops? Am I at the peak of it? Anything to do to minimize it? I am ebf and I have long hair....or did have lots of long hair :(

    The hair loss lasted about 3 months for me after DS. I don't think you can lessen it or speed it up. Just brush frequently in an enclosed area to help contain the mess, vacuum and sweep often, and check your LO's fingers and toes (and genitals if you have a boy) a few times a day to make sure hairs aren't getting wrapped around them and causing circulation loss. It sounds crazy but it does happen.

    I don't remember how long mine lasted with DS1 but it may have been shortened by me getting pregnant again. Not sure. I haven't started losing yet.

    Mine didn't start falling out until after I stopped breastfeeding both times. So far this time I think it's been about 4-5 weeks so far. I don't remember how long it lasted last time...a few months I think. It's truly disgusting. Last time I had super long hair and cut it to a short bob bc it was so gross. Btw, that really didn't help. Still working on growing it back out two years later. :(

    It's totally normal. Basically we all but stop shedding hair at the end of pregnancy and now we play catch up. With my son I remember it peaking at like 4-5 month, kind of faded out (slowly) from there. It started at about 2.5 months pp this time and I think all but ended by like eight months with DS.

    And then the baby hairs started growing in.

    Ahh the things about pregnancy nobody tells you...

    Last time my hair loss started at 3 months, peaked around month 4-5, and was done by month 6.  I couldn't believe how much hair came out.  I have pretty thick hair but it felt thinner by the end.  Good news is, after that things went back to normal pretty much. Not as thick as pregnancy hair but normal.
