Magic Merlin suit and nursing

I have a magic Merlin suit and want to try and use it now that my LO is 3 months... It looks pretty bulky so wondering if she gets hungry at night if I can nurse her in it or if I should take her out? I'm worried if I need to take her out she will wake up once I put her back in the suit!

Re: Magic Merlin suit and nursing

  • Leave her in it.

Yes I always left my older one in it while i nursed! Luckily this time i have a good sleeper and don't need it :)

  • I ordered this suit today and we get it Friday.. I really hope it works!!!!!! I plan on (trying to) nurse him in it... we'll see how it goes :)@kkaew816, did you try it? How did it go?

  • I was wondering the same thing! Good to know. Is the suit true to size? 3-6 months should last a while??

  • Never heard of this product before but
Looks intriguing! How do you eventually wean them out of the sleep suit? We currently are trying to wean the swaddle. He's fine with one arm out but doesn't like two arms out.
  • Nursing went well though she didn't seem to know what to do with her hands! No magic for us I think she is still too small for it (she is long and lean) and was somehow able to move one of her legs out and into the other leg if that makes sense. I think you wean them off of it by transitioning to double pajamas so they still feel secure (I may have read that on TB somewhere?) Will try the suit again as I'm hoping it will help her sleep (she sleeps Unswaddled but scoots around and wakes herself up) sorry so long!

Bummer, I'm sorry it didn't work for her :( DS is long and lean, too... eek! I'm praying it works "magic" for us haha

  • I just tried the suit last night & it wasn't magic for us either. LO didn't sleep longer stretches, but did remain asleep when laid down in the crib after feeding which is a plus. He also managed to scratch the hell out of his face which sucks. We might try it again tonight to see if things go better, not sure how to prevent the scratching. I would hate to put on mittens as he would get too hot I think.

Thanks for the update! That is a major sleep issue DS has been having lately... he will be completely happy and asleep in my arms and the second I put him down he freaks out and it takes another 15-20 minutes to get him happy and asleep again... it's a vicious cycle. Hopefully this suit will help with that issue.

  • @cd92007‌ ugh - we are in the same stinking cycle of content and sleeping, then awake within a few minutes of laying him down... Thinking about the major suit or a zippedeezip...

  • @Dixon813 I only used the magic suit once but have been using the zippadeezip for a few weeks now. I would think the magic suit is better if you wanna be able to lay him down without waking him. My guy is almost 4 months old & still startles & flails in the zippadeezip. Last night in the magic suit he stayed asleep each time he was laid down until about 4am when he wanted to wake up for the day.
  • @macynsnoop... it sounds like our sons are very similar. Mine also loves to wake up for the day at 4 am.  :(( ~O)

  • This sleep suit helps with the startle reflex when putting my DS down. He never even flinches! It is great! I always keep him in the sleep suit while BFing.

  • I'm wondering if the suit will actually work.

I'm nursing DS in the Merlin suit right now. :) I always leave him in it.

As far as if it works or not...the verdict is still out in this house. The past couple days he has been willing to take a nap in his crib when normally he will only sleep while being held. I'm going to call that a win!
