Trouble TTC

heck, i'll take anything i can get!

some good news in all of my many calls to all the insurance and billing departments- i over payed one of my copays so i'm getting a refund of ***drum roll please**...................$10!!! :) she originally thought it was $50 and was so apologetic calling me back to tell me the correction. I said, "really I'd take a dollar if you wanna give it to me!" better in our pocket than theirs.

*side note
writing that title made me giggle thinking about every time my OB mentions starting clomid he prefaces with a warning about possible multiples and
DH & I are always like "give us all the babies!!"image
I think MH is actually hoping for twins lol..guess some days we're still starry-eyed hopefuls

Me:26 DH:27
Married Oct 2011
NTNP for about a year before actively
TTC since April 2013
Currently testing for infertility cause and hormone imbalance.
Infertility & ovarian cyst diagnosis: May '14
B/W: 'good', more ordered to check antibodies & progesterone
SA: Normal :)
U/Ss for cyst: who the f knows
DH's cat scan: showed encapsulated fatty growth; u/s: didn't really show much more
Breast Specialist: Most likely a large fibroid, but keeping an eye on it, repeat u/s every 6mos
HSG: clear tubes, uterus is A-ok
WHAT'S NEXT: DH's consult with surgeon to discuss next step for growth, either biopsy or surgery~Big discussion with Dr. before any possibility of starting Clomid, since I'll want another u/s before and to be monitored and he doesn't seem into that. I had to force his hand just to order the AMH test so may be looking for another OB

  • That's good! Treat yourself! I too would be happy with 10 dollars back! I also do rebates and coupons though so I take what I can get!

Also, my DH wants twins too! He always did but I wasn't too keen on it before but now that we're having trouble I would love it because it would be less time of actually trying to conceive.

lol same here..DH likes to play my upbringing against me & point out that we're 'not in the old country' when i try to haggle. i always think what's the harm in asking? if i can get a goat for a pound of potatoes-win! hahah he loves it though. i just got a check for a rebate of $8,50 :)
and yup i've always said i'd be cool with twins; it's two for the price of one-see can't stop with the bargains!

  • Woot!!  Good for you!

DH and I also hope for twins.  I know there are added risks with multiples and the cost of diapers and clothes and everything else will be more, but after everything we have been through we would be perfectly happy to have two at once and then never ever have to deal with this IF shit again since two is what we always wanted).  Besides, DH plans to be a stay at home dad once the (fingers crossed) future DeCoux babies come along, so at least we won't have to pay twice the childcare!

Too funny reading this thread.  I thought to myself: where else other than an infertility message board would you get a bunch of women actually hoping for multiples?

  • I like the idea of a cheap bottle of wine ;)
Congrats on the $10! I'm always thrilled when I get money I was expecting lol.
I never wanted multiples because I was scared to death, but now I'm like, the more the better as long as I get my baby(ies). It would be an adventure but definitely craziness!
  • Better in you pocket than theirs, and then $8.50 in rebates! It's your lucky day. Play the lotto, or even a scratch off :)

  • Yep, I'll take whatever I can get in both respects...I love seeing the "over payment" checks from one of the many medical facilities I visit!

also, I tell my RE I want two, three or four follies so I can have better odds at one taking and he always tells me that just gives me better odds for multiples - I will take what ever I am given!

  • Woohoo!  That's kinda like finding some money in the pocket of your coat the next year.  I think treating yourself to a manicure is a great idea!

As for the twins, I would love to have them.  I am actually an identical twin, and the bond I share with my twin sister is so special, even more so than with my older sister (even though we are all really close).  I would love to have kids that could share that same bond.
  • The chance of multiples isn't super high anyways.. But bring em on! I'm with ya, I'll take whatever!
  • My RE office has some high rating they're proud of for the most singleton pregnancies (they say anyway, I haven't looked it up). DH and I agree in theory that multiples are harder but it doesn't stop us hoping for twins this time. It would put an end to the IF part of our anxiety anyway since two is all we want.

It's awesome that you got money back from the insurance company. Better you have it than them!

  • Yes! $10 is better than nothing! Take that insurance company! :P

DH used to be terrified of having twins because there are a lot of twins on my side of the family. Now he's all "I'd be happy if we had one, or 10! Just give me babies!!" It's adorable.

    Feb-August 2013: HSG, Uroligist, ect.
October 2013: Consult with RE, recommended to IVF w/ ICSI.
Benched due to finances (100% out of pocket)
November 2013-June 2014: Vacation from TTC.
September 2014 - Appointment with RE to discuss trying IUI before IVF. Fingers crossed!

Come on baby "B"! We're ready for you!

  • **co-workers babies mentioned**

money back is awesome! I was thrilled when I discovered our insurance company covered a percentage of the fertility meds even though they say they don't and we got some $$ back from Ovidrel :)

Our RE (who seems to be the most optimistic person on the planet - don't know if that's a good or bad thing) says we have a 15% chance of having multiples when we start IUIs again. We both love and are terrified of the idea of twins. Would be awesome because it would be one pregnancy and no more dealing with IF. Terrifying because of the all the health risks to the babies and me, and how much more difficult it is especially when they are soo young! A guy I work with who has twins says his wife spent 16 hours a day JUST BREASTFEEDING!!!! But hey, like everyone's said, I'll take it! Wouldn't be easy, but us IF'er can handle it! :)
