edited July 2014 in June 2014 Moms
Brought to you by library story time, where they sang it wrong. Is it the itsy bitsy spider or the eensy weensy spider?

  • Look up appuseries nursery rhymes Eensy weensy on YouTube. Also, you're welcome for these nursery rhymes. One day your toddler will become addicted to such crap and it will get stuck in your head.

  • Does anyone really say tow-mah-tow? Isn't that the real question?

  • I've only heard the itsty bitsy version... however, I've never heard either used in any other context.

An aside on spiders:  normally I don't give them much thought, but while I was pregnant they grossed me out.  We have ginormous ones, so I would kill them by throwing a shoe at them (after I couldn't bend over) and make DH clean them up.

  • Itsy Bitsy FTW.

Also, I had no idea how many different versions of Patty Cake there were until I started working with kids in EI.

@ugabamafans- Your story makes me want to cry! I have a HUGE phobia of spiders... I can manage to kill small ones now that I'm older, but it's still a pretty debilitating phobia and to have them on my kid... that's awful!
  • I've never heard anything other than itsy bitsy.

Funny story: in high school, I got into an 'argument' (all in fun) with my geometry teacher about whether the saying is "beggars can't be choosers" or "beggars can't be choosy". I argued for "choosers" because it has the same 'rs' end. She swore up and down that it was "choosy" and said her mom was the expert would back her up, so she called her on speaker in the middle of our class. Guess which one she picked... lol.
  • @Pepper6 of course it's "choosers!"  Obviously, for the reason you said!  What was she thinking lol?

  • Lincoln likes a video that says "eensy" so I Googled and it said something about it being a regional thing. As a Californian, I say "itsy."
