Spina Bifida Update

It's been almost two months since we found out our beautiful daughter is going to be born with Spina Bifida. The initial shock is over. Couple of things we know so far. The fluid on her brain hasn't increased. Her opening is L3-L5 and they think it is covered by skin, but they aren't 100% sure. And she has bilateral clubbed feet. We've been transferred from our regular hospital to the U of M and they have been great. Doing prenatal surgery was greatly discussed and I was a very good candidate. But after doing all the evaluation tests and talking with DH we decided it was risky. We have more appointments tomorrow. The one I'm looking forward to the most is meeting with Savannah's neurosurgeon. Everything is steady as of now. DH little brother moved from Milwaukee to move in with us and help so we're getting ready to move to a bigger house. I've missed the ladies of this board and can't wait to see what you've been up too.

There was an incident with MIL saying I deserve it because I took her son from her like I'm some succubus. But all it did was make both of her sons not want to be bothered. You can't be nice to everyone.

My prayers are with you. I love the name Savannah! I work at a Shriners Children's Hospital and encounter many children with spina bifida-some of them are the most beautiful children I have ever met, and their parents are amazing. It's good you are remaining so positive during a difficult time...
