Lovey

Do any other LOs use a lovey yet? My LO turned 3 months on the 24th, and I was struggling HARD with naps in the crib last week. My LO has always rubbed his a+a blanket on his face while we rock him so I gave him a burp rag (cloth diaper) to see if that would help. Since then he has slept great! I only give it to him during his naps because I can creep with the monitor. It just makes me nervous to send it with him to daycare because she won't be watching AS closely as I do. Thoughts? Any ideas on a "safe" lovey? I want to make it a bit smaller so it can't get wrapped around his neck or anything.

Oooooh I like that idea! Right now, he hugs the burp rag, but I could try a washcloth instead.

i have given T a cloth wipe to suck and play with before. i felt safe leaving her with that, as it's only 8 inches square. she gets some kind of fabric lovey in the car seat because it calms her down. she loves putting her hands under it like she has a hand puppet on. i usually use A&A blankets or my Kickee Pants swaddles for that.

DS loves his !! I had a woobie until I was 14 then I replaced it with woobie 2.0 which I still have. Hopefully DS doesn't take after his crazy mother. Also his lovey has a teether on it so it's multi-purpose.

Both my girls have had one. Both of them had animal heads attached to a little square of soft fabric on one side and silk on the other. DD1 also got VERY attached to a blanket that she still carries with her everywhere. She gave up the other lovey right about at 2 years.

misskristina21 mentioned. I let her fall asleep with it at naps. she holds onto the arms of the animal and it seems to calm her down. otherwise she holds onto my fingers and i have a heck of a time getting out of there. I check on her periodically though and have taken it out of the crib after shes good and asleep.

DD has 3 - a bird, a giraffe, and a duck. I alternate them so she can pick her favorite. She loves them all right now but I suspect the little birdie is going to win. I let her have them during the day but not at night yet.

Ds had an animal head blanket starting around this age for naps and playing. He was in childcare and I got it for him to have something consistent from home. He also gave up the paci at four months, so it was his comfort object. He's 3 and still keeps it in his bed to sleep with.

I have one for dd, and she likes to grab it, but doesn't use it for naps yet

I didn't think the try one until reading this thread but I just did for her nap and she loved it! She snuggled with it until she fell asleep.

DD still sleeps with 2 a+a Issie blankets like the ones linked above -- breathable and small! They are great lovies and I always felt fine with her having them even though I gave them to her before the age 1 (although she was older than our babies - maybe 8 mo?).

DS still sleeps swaddled with a+a blanket and often ends up sucking on the end once he busts the swaddle. I'm sure we aren't far away from creating another Issie fan!
