I've had a couple passion fruit iced teas n I'm not sure that it's ok to have. I didn't even think about it til recently. I don't think it has cafeine but might have hibiscus. Is this harmful to the baby or ok to have once in a while?
I wonder what amount of hibiscus one has to consume, in order for there to be hormonal issues, I'm guessing it's not a small amount. Having said that, do you really think that that passion fruit tea is organic, with no additives and only naturally flavoured? I'd be surprised.
Also: crazy thing - even if it did have caffeine, it wouldn't harm the baby. All those studies are inconclusive, and concur that caffeine is fine in moderation.
I'm surprised you're not worried about the radiation from your cellphone, or the damage your computer/laptop, frankly. Obviously you needn't, but if a touch of hibiscus is worrying you, then well.. there are at least a dozen more worrisome things you should consider.
Passion Tea and Berry hibiscus refreshers are 2 different drinks. Both are fine to drink while pregnant. Berry Hibiscus has caffeine, but only 90 mg in a 30 oz drink. Passion tea has no caffeine.
I drink a cup of coffee everyday, its the one thing I couldnt give up. Believe it or not, my dr. said Im fine drinking up to three regular cups per day (not super charged starbucks lattes or what have you)....I keep it to one maybe one and a half a day. Theres no caffeine in starbucks passionfruit tea so I think youre fine.
I drink a lot of hibiscus tea (I buy the dried flowers in bulk) and asked my doctor at my first appointment. She laughed and said not to worry about it at all. Jamaica, a hibiscus based drink, is super popular here, and she said unless I was drinking gallons of that a day, I'd be fine... and then, she'd only be worried about it because of how much sugar is usually in jamaica, haha.
