Anyone? Hi all, I've been away for about a year now, DS was born April 2013. I'm looking for a place to post regarding support or discussion with others in my situation, nursing my toddler, ~3 xday, and TTC. Thx
I was able to get pregnant while still breastfeeding my toddler. My first cycle was when DD was 18 months. I could tell I was going to ovulate because when I nursed her my nipples were very sore. I confirmed with an OPK. I had a missed miscarriage the first cycle, but got pregnant with DD2 the second cycle. Good luck!
I got KU while still nursing my 15 month old (march 2013). I had started temping and charting 3-4 months earlier, you may want to try that so that you know if you are ovulating and around when in your cycle. But, it just hit me, you didn't mention if you are having periods. I'm assuming you are. I'd also recommend reading Taking Charge of Your Fertility.
Happy TTC!
ETA - my period returned at 10 months pp bc I had surgery and couldn't nurse as frequently for a week. (thankfully a large freezer stash saved us). After I recovered we picked back up at 6-7 feedings a day, but my periods stayed.
Thank you! My first pp period returned at 11 months, and that cycle was 41 days. May, June & July cycles were all 28 days. May and June we were ntnp, and this month trying; I used wondfo OPKs to kind of visual things. That went really well so I was very surprised when AF showed up...so I started thinking night nursing might be preventing this from happening. I thought I'd be out as far as temping goes, bc of night nursing & I sometimes work nights; but maybe I'll give it a try anyway! I appreciate the info!
Yeah it seems like these past couple weeks he wants to nurse MORE than the past couple of months! I feel we're going backwards! I figured he'd self wean around 13 months but it seems he has no plans of this. Especially this weekend, if I'm around he doesn't want cows milk. at. all.
I think everyone is different regarding how quickly they get KU. I never had a true PP AF and got pregnant when my daughter was 10 months old. I knew I was ovulating based on signs mentioned in Taking Charge of Your Fertility. I recommend the book if you're wanting to learn more about your body's natural cycle. My doctor said that longer stretches of 6 hours w/o nursing usually trigger your body to start having AF again. Good luck with TTC!
Good luck to you. My dd is 17 months. I had my first pp af at 15 months to the day. I know for sure I O'ed last month because of a whole list of symptoms. The main one being my nipples hurt when I nursed dd. Then I had a super short lp. My cycle was 51 days. I am very curious how things will go this month.
I also have PCOS and I don't know how ttc again will go. I am going to start temping and all that with the next cycle. Dd is still nursing 4 times a day. My waking times are all over the place so that makes it a little more difficult.
