Retroverted Uterus / Miscarriages??

Hello,

I am curious if other women with Retroverted uterus experience bad back pain and painful sex? I do and I just wanted to know if anyone else has similar issues. Another question I have is if you have a Retroverted uterus and have been pregnant, did you have any miscarriages? I am researching online and I have noticed some women have had miscarriages because of their tilted uterus.

I have a retroverted uterus, and yes, I have pretty intense back pain (especially during my period). I have severe endometriosis, and a lot of that pain gets referred into my back, as well. It's a common side effect, unfortunately. But it really shouldn't affect your fertility, unless there are other anatomical issues as well.

  • My mom has one...and no one ever mentioned it to her until she continually got odd pap results post-menopause and had to go to a specialist (she eventually just had a hysterectomy).  Apparently hers was severe.  The specialist told her he can't believe she didn't have more trouble getting pregnant (took her a year with me but only a few months with my sister 3 years later).  It was also the reason that we were both breech and needed to be C-sections.  He said that the odds of having multiple breech children is very low (she is also very small though, so it's possible that our movement was compromised too early for us to flip around entirely).

She didn't miscarry (that she knew of...CPs especially were harder to catch in the 80's because HPTs weren't accurate as early as they are now).  And she gave birth to all of the children that she wanted to (just us two because on my sister they didn't give her enough drugs for the C-section and she felt the whole thing.  Seriously.  She was done after that.  If that happened today i bet there would be a resulting lawsuit).

  • I have a retroverted uterus, it was always mentioned at any check ups with my gyn, and then with my midwife.  They had always said it's not an issue during pregnancy.  I conceived DS pretty easily I guess, 5 months of NTNP, but was induced at 38 weeks due to complications not related at all to my uterus.  Never had a m/c that I'm aware of.
