Welcome to the August ‘14 PgAL Check-In!

This is a weekly check-in for women who are due in the month of August (or thereabouts) and have suffered a previous pregnancy loss.  Being pregnant after a loss can produce a mix of emotions.  This check-in is intended to provide support while we make our way through each trimester.
If your EDD has changed, please let me know.

  • @mmsweeney1 you should try papaya enzymes! they have been SO amazing for heartburn relief. For me, tums *maybe* worked after 30 mins or so, but the papaya enzymes give immediate relief!

I will try this too! Heartburn has kept me from too many foods!!
I agree the papaya enzyme is a life saver for me and unlike tums you can take as many as you need!

    Thanks for stepping up!

I'm 39 weeks today and I am over it. Physically, I'm tired and I'm getting sick of the constant Braxton Hicks. Emotionally! I'm starting to ride the end of pregnancy emotional roller coaster. I'm overly sensitive and cry easily over everything. I really just want to meet my little guy.

I'm looking forward to my Thursday doctors appt. Though, I'm hoping that I don't make it to it!

I love the movement, and I'm going to miss having him with me all the time!

  • kountingsheep Have fun at your last shower!  I went ahead and let them do a quick check at my 35 week GBS test because I was undressed anyways.  Sadly even with a lot there was no progress.  I may see if they will check again today at 37 weeks.

Russiandea12 Thanks for the last check in and good luck next week!

mmsweeney1 I had to lay down again Sunday because I know I felt baby in the morning but couldn't remember anything else the rest of the day.  DH was also a bit worried once I told him and he helped get me some food which of course woke baby up.

lingchow8655 Congrats on your due date this week!

Lena76 Congrats on being done with work!  I can't wait to have some time off

ColeyJ88 Welcome and thanks for posting this week!  What is the garlic supposed to do?  This is also probably our last pregnancy so I am trying to enjoy it as much as possible.

bkroxfan003 Great deal on the pump!

MamaTugboat Glad to see you're progressing as you near your due date!  So many on the boards seem to be due the first week of August!

Ptarma I'm sorry you are feeling sick :( I feel like I hit a wall too around 36 weeks or so where its so close, but so far away and I just don't have energy to do my to-do list!

KaleMonster Hopefully he comes soon, you are so close!

Elbug That is terrible they scheduled you like that.  Those are REALLY long days!  Congrats on the successful version!

  • @Third&goal garlic is a natural antibiotic, so I'm hoping that taking it the past few weeks has cleared any bad bacteria (GBS) out of my GI tract. I was negative last pregnancy but was told that doesn't mean anything, as it can come and go at different times. I would very much like to avoid giving my newborn prophylactic antibiotics!

  • How many weeks are you: 38w0d
How are you feeling (physically/emotionally): Physically: basically the same. My hands and back are killing me--my hands get worse every day. I've been sleeping in my hand braces, but it doesn't do much for me. Emotionally I'm ready to have this baby for sure. I'm getting a little anxious about the birth, but mostly just excited and ready to finally meet this girl!
Upcoming appointments or milestones: Friday, Regular OB appt.
What's been going down this past week: I found out at my appointment last week that I'm GBS positive (boo). My in-laws came up to help with the nursery, which was really nice. DH and I have been going out a lot to our favorite places in town before that becomes way more difficult.
GTKY:  Do you like to feel baby movement?  Is it getting painful yet?  Do you think you'll miss it after birth? I love feeling my baby!! I think its by far the best part of pregnancy. I love those moments with DH when we can both experience her moving. Its not that painful most of the time, although one time I was driving and cried out because she got me in a spot that felt like she was going to break through my muscles and skin. I know I'll miss it after she's born. :)
