So... I'm almost at 13 weeks and have started telling a select few people.  This is my first and I am maybe just barely overweight by a few pounds and only 5 feet tall.  Well, my best friend told her mom I'm expecting (which I'm totally fine with) and today I saw her mom and she says "oh! I guess I can say congratulations because you're officially showing!". ummmm I am??  Nope, pretty sure I'm just fat. I seriously wanted to cry.  Actually, after I left their house I did cry.  I've always struggled with my weight. I'm not even 13 weeks and from what I read if it's my first I'm definitely now showing yet. It's just bloat. and fat. This is the second time someone has made this comment to me in the last week.  The first time I just kind of brushed it off. This time it hurt though. Anyone else dealing with this? Anyone? Or I am just the lone whale of the group?? ugh.

I can no longer suck in my stomach, or wear a girdle. At this point it may be more bloat and fat than uterus or baby, but I'm going into full maternity mode with my style of dress and accepting the fact that I am showing.
I look at it this way. If there wasn't a baby in there then I wouldn't be this bloated, I could suck in my tummy, and play off a flat stomach with my girdle. So for all intensive purposes my baby bump is showing at 11 weeks [-(

My point is, no, you are not alone. You aren't a whale. And many people are fat and are asked f they're pregnant when they're not and live happy lives.
And, at only 5 feet there probably isn't much room in there for baby, so maybe you'll show earlier than is the average! Seeing as average height is quite a bit taller than 5 feet! I'm very short waisted and I was told to expect to show earlier by a few healthcare professionals.
We are growing humans.
But, I am running out of shirts. They are all too tight! Ugh!
I'm 10-odd weeks now and I can feel my little baseball in there (a hardness I can feel when I'm lying on my stomach). Sure, the baby is tiny, but your uterus is much bigger than that.
Monster Truck (It's a GIRL!) is due 19/02/2015!

One of my friends rubbed my blump yesterday and was like "Oh, you're so tiny!" I didn't mind because she is a good friend, but I almost wanted to tell her that the baby is not up that high yet. If someone actually tried to touch me where my uterus is, I'd have to slap them.

The fact that I have actually lost quite a bit of weight with this pregnancy has actually made me quite happy. It lets me know that I'll be able to take more of it, plus the baby weight, off after the baby is born. Pregnancy, I have discovered, has a way of resetting your body and your metabolism. Your hair gets smoother and shinier, your skin starts to clear up in the 2nd trimester, you get more energy in the 2nd trimester as well, and some women like me even lose weight at first rather than gain. So I would take advantage of this opportunity and don't let anyone get you down!
