Best Quality Maternity Dress Pants

I am very frustrated in my search for nice quality maternity dress pants. I cannot find anything but pants made out of that cheap, thin fabric that shows every flaw there is. I want a few pair of nice quality pants that are made of thick, decent fabric. I buy most of my "normal" dress pants at places like The Limited & Banana Republic. I have heard good things about H&M maternity, but cannot seem to find any dress pants for sale online. Any suggestions???

Re: Best Quality Maternity Dress Pants

  • I have pants from Old Navy too (similar to those posted above). My only complaint is that EVERYTHING sticks to them. Even after a good lint rolling they don't look "clean". I'm going to be hitting up Motherhood Maternity this weekend.

  • I have several items from pickles and icecream that I love. They are pricy, but very nice. They have limited stores, but you can order online.

  • May seem counter-intuitive looking for really nice pants, but occassionally I have scored at Goodwill or a consignment store.

A third person here raving abt Old Navy's black dress pants. I agree they catch lint really easily but I also have two cats so that's unfortunately normal for me. The fabric is very thick and sturdy (partially spandex). Pre-pregnancy I lived in work pants from The Limited to give you an idea of my style. Old Navy pants get slightly baggy as I wear them but I flop them in the dryer after they have been hung dry to slightly damp to restore snugness.

Having occasionally tried Old Navy and H&M for regular clothes and knowing that their whole deal is selling cheap clothes, I cannot fathom that they would offer a nice quality pair of pants, maternity or not.

i second the Loft and also add Pea In the Pod and Nordstrom (free shipping! free returns if you shop online).

  • I agree that H&M doesn't have high quality clothing.

I did, however, get $7 black dress pants from hm.com and I love them for work.

  • Mine are from Gap. I am satisfied with them. I wear a lot from The Gap when not pregnant as well.

  • Mine are from Motherhood & I love them!

  • Another vote for Ann Taylor Loft, especially if you can catch their 40% off sales.

  • I was digging through the old box of maternity clothes from last time and I do have a couple from Motherhood. They aren't bad looking but they are definitely of a cheaper material which probably won't last as long and the don't have any frills. They have a traditional style belly cover and the pockets are non functional for example. They have petite length but I'm not sure about options for different firs (skinny vs boot cut for example). When paired with a typically lengthy maternity shirt, they are ok pants for a pretty reasonable price.

All of my non-maternity dress pants are from Banana Republic. All of my maternity pants are from Motherhood, including jeans and shorts. I think they are the best. They are not the same quality as BR (they are thinner) but they are comfy, look great and don't wrinkle easily. I have one pair from Target that I never wear because they are crap. I think they were in the $40 per pair range. ETA: The Motherhood pants were ~$40. The Target pants were more like $20.

Seriously, give Old Navy a look. I never buy Old Navy clothing due to fit, style and cheapness but the spandex in their maternity pants gives them a very thick/sturdy quality. I have two pairs I bought this summer and they wash nicely. It's the spandex that must be holding them together. SO surprising to me, too. I also bought a maternity dress from ON that has spandex in it (blue with white pin stripes) and it's equally sturdy. Spandex, spandex, spandex!! :-)

  • I have some from Motherhood that I like just fine. Two of them are thinner material, but one pair is a heavier fabric.

I *think* these (in both black and grey)- they come in regular and plus sizes:

And then I got a pair similar to this. They're not skinny leg, but they are this fabric, with the pockets, this fabric, and this color.
