Am I over reacting?

I'm a preschool teacher and my school has a separate building for daycare. I talked to my boss in October about putting my LO's name on the waiting list to start in Sept when I have to go back to work. She told me I was all set and she would call me over the summer to confirm his spot. When I emailed last week asking to confirm the spot she originally said she didn't know I needed daycare when I reminded her about our discussion she said oh yea he is on the waiting list but can't start till the end of Sept even though she knows I have to start the first week of Sept. This is creating a huge strain on us financially because most daycares around here have no availability with this short of notice or are more then double what I was suppose to pay (I get a discount at my work's daycare).
Am I wrong to think that I was guarenteed a spot for the beginning of Sept when I was on the waiting list since October?

    I forwarded her a copy of the email she sent me saying I was on the waiting list and I was all set and she would confirm in the summer and thats when she told me she didnt have a spot till maybe the end of sept

    I guess I should have included above that all our discussions were through Email and when asked if I had to fill out paperwork she said I was on the waiting list and was fine

    Right, but unless she confirmed that you were off the waiting list and had an official start date (in writing), then you don't have much to stand on.
