14 weeks and cramping

How normal is it to cramp often at 14 weeks? I keep panicking over every little thing because my doctor has already scared me about one twin being smaller and I worry that something is going to go wrong. But these last couple days, I've had cramps on and off all day. Sometimes they feel like cramps you get if you have diarrhea. And then other times it's like really really bad menstrual cramps. I woke up this morning with a sharp cramp but haven't felt much more than that yet today. I just worry so much that something is going to happen to one or both babies, and I wanted to see what you all have experienced before I call the doctor. I feel like I call them over everything- I feel pretty annoying.

Re: 14 weeks and cramping

  • I'm 14 weeks as well and I have lots of strange cramps and pulls that definitely weren't there before.  I think some may be gas but I have no idea what the rest are.

  • In sure it's normal and I had cramping at 14w & 15w. It's just ute growing etc and esp as you have twice the bundles of joy setting up camp in their it might be slightly worse. Could also be gas from bowel being squashed as ute rises etc. If in doubt always call a professional.

  • Drink water.  A lot of times the cramps are due to dehydration.  The uterus is a muscle and it's constantly moving and growing right now, so you need to drink more water than usual.  Drink a big glass, and see if that helps.

If you're still concerned, call your doctor.

  • Call your doctor if you're nervous. I've been questioning mine a bit too. But there is so much moving around down there right now I'm not surprised its feeling weird!

I am at 16 weeks and I get cramps too but they don't last long unless they are related to gas. But, I would not hesitate to call the doctor if it worries or bothers you.
