Trying to Get Pregnant

Juice Plus vs. Prenatals

Hello all!! I'm new here and wanted to know if anyone has taken juice plus over prenatal vitamins? I've been taking Juice Plus for awhile now and have done a little research on it's effects on pregnancy. I just wanted to hear more personal experiences. Please help!!! Thanks!!

Re: Juice Plus vs. Prenatals

  • I briefly looked up juice plus and I couldn't find any indication that it contains Folic Acid or DHA, both of which are pretty important when TTC and PG. I would give your Dr a call and discuss...it may or may not be something they are comfortable with you taking.

  • No experience with Juice Plus... I take the gummy Prenatals while BF & all during TTC, pg & BF.

I'd definitely choose a PNV over a mystery juice supplement though.

Juice plus is a suppliment. An expensive one at that. Pnv vits are specifically formulated for being pregnant and breast feeding. There are different requirements during that time in your life and a general suppliment is not going to have the correct amount of specific nutrients.

I would take pnv. To me its not negotiable.

  • This is strictly my story, I would encourage anyone else to talk to their doctor first before making any changes in what they're doing.

I actually opted to take Juice Plus+ along with iron and DHA supplements. The prenatals made me gag every time I tried to take it and I've talked to doctors who state there really isn't a need to take them if you're eating right (lots of fruits and veggies, nuts, whole foods, etc) and getting the additional amount of folic acid, DHA, and iron you need during pregnancy. Juice Plus+ does have folic acid, which is why I don't supplement with that. You can find their nutrition facts labels in the store on their website, they're listed with each product. Here's a link if you want to check it out: https://www.juiceplus.com/content/JuicePlus/en/buy/capsules/orchard-and-garden-blends.html#.U9gYKvldURo

I do not sell the product (I know it's sold through the direct selling model), I simply take it. But I do know several women that took Juice Plus+ during their pregnancy and had very nutrient rich cord blood and super thick umbilical cords, so much so that their doctors commented on it.

To each their own, just thought I'd share. Best wishes on your pregnancy!
