I am miserably sick and all I see on the list of approved meds is Tylenol and sudafed. I can't take sudafed because it gives me bloody noses.
I have horrible congestion draining down the back of my throat, giving me a very sore, scratchy throat and causing periodic coughing spasms. My head feels like it weighs a million pounds. I'm trying to keep up with my 8 month old who just wants to play with mommy and I'm failing.
I've tried:
Hot tea with honey- only helps as long as I'm drinking it.
Ricola lozenges- helps but wears off quickly once gone.
Emergen-C drink mix- no idea if it's helping.
Any other suggestions what might help me deal with this and maybe get over it more quickly?

Re: Sick, please help!
I have Mucinex but it's DM so I guess that's a no go. I'll have to take another look at what I have, might have to send hubby up to Walgreens on his way home. Thanks so much you guys! I hate being sick.
I am prone to sinus infections if I don't get a decongestant quickly (and I'm talking the behind-the-counter 12 hour stuff). When I was pregnant I was traveling in Norway on vacation. I was trying not to take anything but it turns out they don't even sell pseudoephedrine in Norway (not even with a prescription, I don't think). My only solution was to take tylenol, chugging water, saline nose spray and two or three times a day I would hold my face over a pot of super steamy hot water. I'm telling you, hot steam is the bomb if you feel like you can't take anything else.
Good luck. Being sick blows.

I'm taking ibuprofen and it's helping with the aches and pains. Nasal spray might be a good idea at this point. I'll keep trying the Mucinex. I hesitate to take Benadryl because I already have such a low supply...I may have to cave tonight though. I've got to get some sleep.
@AmyG* that's a good suggestion, thank you. A half dose may help me sleep.
