First 3D ultrasound?

How far along were you when you got your first 3D ultrasound? I'm 12w6d pregnant with twins- first pregnancy! We are supposed to find out the genders August 11th! If that means anything...

    We did an elective 3D/4D u/s when I was pregnant with DS. It was around 28 weeks. That's when most places that do them suggest getting them because they look more like humans and have more fat on them and for developed features. I don't think my Dr's office ever did one. Maybe they did once around 30 weeks or later. I think it just depends on the ultrasound tech.

    For best pictures 24 to 35 weeks. Maybe around 24 to 30 weeks for you. Since you've got twins.

    I have had a 3D at 6 weeks, 8 weeks, 11 weeks and a 4D at 14 weeks. Maybe just depends on your u/s tech?

    We had a 2d done at 11 weeks, they said they could do 3d at 14 weeks if we wanted to know gender and said come back at 28 weeks for 3d4d because baby looks cute then lol

    So... by u/s tech.... do you ladies go schedule these yourself at your OB ? I feel like I'm poor or something cause my appointments are so quick and uneventful and I feel like I'm missing out on what's happening in my belly... I'm close to 13 weeks and my last u/s was at 8 weeks 6 days... :( I'm depressed

    When I had mine, I paid for it. I went to a ultrasound boutique. I called and made ab appointment.

    I haven't had one this pregnancy with my Dr. I don't plan to unless they find it medically necessary.

    I'll pay to have one done later on, for fun only.

    @kilayla13‌ my OB appointments are normally quick and boring. 8 weeks I had a quick dating ultrasound that the OB did. 14 weeks NT scan. I'll have the anatomy scan around 20 weeks. And I'll probably have some ultrasounds towards the end to make sure of growth because my thyroid. When we did our 3d u/s last time we scheduled it at an ultrasound boutique like LaBellaVida said she did. It was a little over $100. I only ever got one 3d u/s from a tech at my OBs office. And it was towards the end so it was a crappy picture. They typically say between 24-30 weeks is the best time. After that they become to squished.
