Laser hair removal?

Has anyone done this? I'm thinking about just saying F it and getting a Brazilian done. Whether I shave or wax, grow back with red bumps and is so annoying. There are always groupons for it around here, so u figure even if it takes 8 treatments it will be worth it to never have to worry about hair removal again.
So I guess my question is, if you have had it done, is the area totally smooth now? Any problems I should think about? TIA

Re: Laser hair removal?

  • Yeah it works best with dark hair and fair skin. I've tried before but it wasn't effective for me (lighter hair and fair skin).

I did 6 sessions on my bikini area. The hair still grows there, but much slower than it used to. I can go 2-3 weeks without shaving before it becomes noticeable, which is an improvement from how often it had be shaved before!
Overall though, I'm not sure it was worth what I paid for it ($100 per session!), and I don't think I would do it again.
  • Hurts like hell. Would NOT recommend ALC.
  • I have had it done and I am pretty happy with the results. It is not 100% but it was worth it for me.  (I have light skin and dark hair)

  • Lurker....I am currently getting treatments for my underarms. I used to have to shave my underarms every 1-2 days, and after only 1 treatment, I shave once a week and it's only some small patches of hair that are growing. I have dark hair/light skin. I bought a groupon. Definitely try something to numb the area first because it does hurt. The place I use said to try ice packs. I bought a numbing spray from amazon and if it works, then I'll consider doing my bikini area.

  • If the groupon is for a diode laser, I would go for it. If it is a IPA laser I would pass. The diode laser is much more effective with less treatment.
