*Cross posting in Potty Training*
My 20 month olds daycare sent home a letter asking us to let them know if we want them to start potty training.
We
didn't potty train DS1 until he just turned 3 - we delayed it a bit b/c
we were moving from NY to FL, plus, the baby was just born and that was
about all I could handle with my husband traveling every week.
Anyways,
at what age did you start potty training? Did you have success at 20
months? I'd LOVE to get him out of diapers and don't want to miss a good
window of opportunity like I think we did with my DS1 (he still won't
poop on the potty, only in a diaper at night).
Just looking for opinions on starting at this age.
Thanks!
Re: What age did you potty train?
Honestly, if it were up to me I'd probably wait until he was 100% ready and I knew it would be met with little resistance. But since that won't fly at DC (he can't move to the next room until he's PT'd) then I'm trying to get him prepped.
We started to sit our 16month old on the potty and read her 3-4 books after supper. She is in diapers (cloth) and will be for some time coming but we will slowly start popping her on the potty a few times a day. While reading a few books she will naturally at some point pee/poop and we'll say 'yay' and eventually she'll connect the dots and try to pee/poop and over time we'll have her sit on it more often.
No interest in having her out of diapers until she is fully trained. Will just aim to have the diapers stay dry longer and longer until they are not needed.
I have trained many toddlers with this method (at work) and it seems to work best.

My 23 month old as of two weeks ago is completely potty trained. She was wearing diapers to bed at night, but has been waking up dry, so we stopped completely.
