Too much sleep?

I swear I'm not trying to rub this is anyone's face because I know what it's like to get up every 2-3 hours during the night, but my 9 week old is sleeping 9-10 hours at night is this normal?? I wake up in panics in the morning to check if she is still breathing. Should I be waking her up to feed at a certain point?

Re: Too much sleep?

  • I just started having the same concern as I had no idea. DS is 11 weeks, EBF and started sleeping 5 to 7 hour stretches. I was told as long as he's gaining weight, eating well during the day and lots of wet diapers then embrace the sleep! And I plan to!

I know FF babies can go even longer than that.

  • I had this same concern the other night. DS ate at 7:30 PM and had some trouble going to sleep because we were out. Finally fell asleep around 9:30. I ended up having to wake him at 6:15 AM to feed. I was mostly concerned about his diaper. But last night he went down a little after 8 and slept until 6:30 again. He is 12 weeks and about 16 lbs so I think he is just ready to STTN. Hope this stays for a little while.

Not this kid. .. but DD slept like a champ from day 1 and was ebf. Go with it and enjoy it! I think it's just a personality thing. Some kids just love and need their sleep and know how to do it!

If you're concerned though make sure LO doesn't have a fever or other signs of illness and of course call your pedi if you'rer eally concerned. But fwiw I had one kid like this and she's fine and still is an awesome slsleeper at 2.5 yo.

  • My lo does this and if I wake up in the middle of the night, I check on her just to make sure she is ok. I dont wake her up to feed her, she is gaining weight and eating plenty during the day!
