Not making enough at night

Hello from a lurker. My twins are 6 weeks old and I have been bottle feeding them BM at night since day 1 due to the fact that they spent sine time in the NICU send when they cam whine I wanted to meek sure they were getting full feeds set night ( and we were still practicing latching during the day). We hsve mastered the latch and I want to BF instead of bottle feed/ pump at night. The biggest reason is that I am tired! - haha- and that I was not pumping enough at night and knowing that babies are more efficient than the pump- maybe they would get enough send I wouldn't be tapping into my freezer stash. It seems however, that they are Not satisfied at night and I am still using my stash! I am fine during the day... Suggestions??? Thanks

PP hit the nail on the head with babies wanting to cluster feed, being more fussy, and us having less but richer milk at night.  I have a singleton as well but I've got to tell you, week 6 was really tough for us.  He was so fussy, wanted to eat all the time and never seemed satisfied.  Since he wanted to BF so frequently during this time, I stopped pumping until things got back on track (around week 8) and offered the breast whenever he was hungry.  That also helped establish my milk supply.  Hang in there and GL!

  • Do you tandem feed? I just lay in bed with them on either side and nursed, all nite :)
