I suppose I'm thankful it took this long. With my first pregnancy I had major issues sleeping from about 33 weeks on. I'm 37 now, but insomnia was my worst complaint the first time and I really hoped I would skate through without it this time around. Anyone else? What do you do to try and sleep?
Re: insomnia has arrived....
I take a diclegis at night, and it has unisom in it. So, that helps me at least fall asleep. My husband is also reading Lord of the Rings to me at bedtime. After about 15 pages, I'm usually pretty sleepy.
My problem is going back to sleep after I wake up in the middle of the night or early morning. If I can tell what is keeping me up, then I try to fix it. If I'm in pain, I try to make myself get up and take a Tylenol. If I have heartburn, I go get a tums. When I know that I'm not going to be able to fall asleep for a long time for whatever reason, I try to just get out of bed for a little while. If it is in the middle of the night, I just get the computer for a few and then try sleep again a little later. When I wake up really early, and I've been awake for close to an hour, I just go ahead and get up. Depending on my schedule, I may get to take a nap later in the day. That always isn't the case though.
I realize that most of that doesn't really fix the problem, but it is better than laying in bed wide awake and miserable.
